I have two upcoming trips that simply are just not as easy as fly, get a car, go to resort and return. Looking for advice on how others may do this with ease and also cost effective if possible. Also, since I only need 2 nights during high season....I'm pretty sure a snag of a nice TS is not going to work out.

1. April: Cruise out of Miami. Flying into Ft Lauderdale. Staying 2 nights in area prior to the cruise. There are no transfers from cruise line for FLL since the cruise it out of Miami. I'm thinking my only options would be to either rent a car for the week and let it sit around while we are on the cruise (and pay for parking it) or taxi or shuttle services to/from the airport/hotel and hotel/port and then port/airport. (also any hotel suggestions)

2. February: We have a week in SanDiego via RCI trade. Thinking about adding 2 nights prior to and checking out Disneyland. We would fly Southwest who has service to SanDiego, LAX, Orange County, Burbank and Onteria. I was thinking flying into LAX and then leaving from SanDiego - but then I got the car issue dropping off at a different airport which isn't cost effective. If I stay onsite at DL - then I can use their DL airport transfers. But....still doesn't get my but to SanDiego after.

Aaah.....if I was only rich enough to hire a private chauffer to cart my butt around!!!

I think some hotels near ports cater to cruisers by offering free parking & shuttle to the port. Look on cruise critic.com for advice.

Here's a suggestion. Fly into Orange County, take Super Shuttle to wherever you are staying close to Disneyland. If you are staying close enough you can walk to the park and won't need a car. Rent a car to drive to San Diego. Check rates as sometimes the rate to pick up in one area and drop in another aren't that bad.

for FLL, you could rent a car one way and drop at the Port of Miami. Several rental car places have free transport to the Port.

There is a shared ride option between FLL and the Miami port:

We used that a couple of years ago. We landed at FLL and the shared ride took us to the Port of Miami. I imagine the reverse is available.

And, as Elaine suggested, rent a car at FLL for two days and then drop it off at the Port of Miami. You'll then have a car for two days for exploring.:)
