Marriott's program has devalued the points program over the years to the point we no longer worry about collecting them. With HHonors, I never really fealt it was worth the effort. Which reminds me, I need to call and have our HHonors card changed over to an American Airlines card. We'll be more inclined to use it to collect FF miles than to collect HHonors points.

Which HHonors credit card do you have? Amex?

The Starwood Amex has one good perk... when you transfer 20k points to an airline, they give you a 5K bonus. 1 point per dollar spent so its only 20K in spend for a 25K point transfer.

I have Citi Banks card.

About 20 years ago, my income level fell below Amex's standards. They didn't just cancel the card. One of their reps had to tell me WHY they cancelled the card and in terms that sounded as if I were being scolded by a parent using foul language. I was so impressed by the lack of customer service and how I was spoken down to that I will never carry the Amex card again.

Everyone has a down year. It's not as if I ever missed a payment or, for that matter, was even using the Amex card more than the occasional very small purchase to keep some activity on the card. Sure I could have understood them canceling the card. What I'll never understand is being spoken to in the condesending tone of the phone rep and being told I was a worthless human being as far as Amex is concerned.

Amex may have the greatest benefits in the world but, as far as I'm concerned, they have the worst customer service I've ever seen. Since I won't do business with the devil, I won't do business with Amex no matter what the offer might be.
