My Platinum membership expired in June. I decided to renew it and called to see if there were any specials. I was told by a very nice agent that if I renewed it today, it would be considered a continuation of my old membership and would end in June 2015! However, if I waited until October 24, I would get a full year's membership. So if you let your membership expire, you have to wait to renew or risk having it "continue" from your old expiration date.

So if you bought any Guest Certificates between when it expired and when you "renew", would they take that off the price of renewal if they are back dating?

They won't take that off a renewal as you already bought the guest certificate. It would only be free if your are a platinum member when you ordered the GC.
