My parents who have no idea what they were doing with their Wyndham time share and had deposited over a million points into RCI (not sure why there is so many points there) 2 years ago. They just paid the fee to extend the points until next Oct. at which time they expire for good. Any suggestions on how to use these points or can some be donated?

My parents already have travel plans set for Jan through April and do not travel June through Sept since they live on a lake so it is doubtful they will use any of the points. I am free to use them but already have a cruise planned for March and Aruba (using the points) for April. I can probably get another week off in Aug or Sept but it is killing me to leave all those points on the table! I thought about weekend getaways in New England but with the exchange fees and guest cert. its not really a deal and adds up. btw they have since sold their Wyndham so there will not be any more points once these are gone

Any suggestions thanks in advance

Unfortunately, you cannot rent RCI points, or exchanges, so if they can't use them themselves, maybe they can give vacations to friends or family.

A really good organization to donate exchanges to is the Make a Wish Foundation. They often have children who want to go to Orlando and Disneyworld. I'd call them and get all the details, before making any reservations.

I am not sure if this info. is still current - but it's a place to start:
Make-a-Wish Foundation has tremendous needs for Orlando housing as Disney is the #1 request of these very ill children.

The Central Florida Chapter fills the lodging requests for all states. They can always use donations, they need about 2-3 months notice for the matching/scheduling process.

Their info is:

1053 North Orlando Ave, Suite 1
Maitland, FL 32751
Office Phone: 407-622-HOPE (4673)
Office FAX: (407) 622-5803
Toll Free Florida Only:
(888) 874-WISH (9474)

I knew that you cannot rent the points or exchanges that is why I was asking. Make a wish sounds like a great place to contact. I am going to do that. I think I may book a week in New Port RI in Oct and probably only use 3 nights - I maybe able to have a friend or family member use the other nights. Thanks Denise

Is it possible in the Wyndham Rci portal to use points towards points partners? If yes, you can book airfare and car rental for your trips.

Just a curiosity question, if you book something in RCI and then cancel the booking, what expiration date do the returned points have?
