Considering an SVV resale. Price is $995 for annual 2 bdrm Bella. MFs are 1069 and there are 67,100 SOs. I am willing to reimburse MF for 2014 use, but owner says they made a reservation then cancelled and now future reservation is limited to 30 days out. I planned to bank the SOs.
What do you think? The value is there, but I am concerned about paying for SOs that are unusable.

You can't bank the Staroptions when the Resv. has been cancelled within 30 days of check-in, so not sure how this will impact you. You should verify directly with the Starwood title office. (Their contact info. is in the Owner Resources sticky at the top of the forum.)

BTW - with restricted Staroptions you have 60 days to make the Resv. - not 30.

How will you use this ownership?

I thought it was 60 days, but the use would still be restricted. But then, the reimbursement for MF s was optional. And I can still use the 67,100 SO s as I want. We currently rent our Kaanapali units out.

It is 60 days - as Denise mentioned, the SOs would be restricted and cannot be banked.

Deal is just okay. I'm not a big fan of buying SVV mandatory unless you are buying Plat. Gold+ mf/SO is steep in comparison. But if it works for you, go for it -- the deal is not terrible.

If the cancellation was within 60 days of the ressie, then you won't be able to bank the options. You did say that you plan to use the options, so that won't be an issue?

How this all ended up

After writing the original post, I was notified that the owner had 2 SVV units and the one actually offered had 67,100 intact SOs in a KW 2 bdrm. But by the time I learned this I was notified by another TUG member offering a SVV Bella 2 bdrm with 67,100 for free, just reimburse for the MFs. This caused me to bargain more on the original offer which was accepted at $1,000. In the end we purchased both.
By requesting LT Transfers as closing agent, the purchases are proceeding at a brisk pace. Thanks to Denise for the advise on the closing agent. First resale purchases easier than I expected.
