Hi Tuggers,
Since the talk about Class Action Suits, I have noticed there are many more resorts to choose from when making an exchange. Is this just a coincidence or has RCI begun to offer some resorts that were not previously offered? I spoke to a rep the other day from RCI and commented that I enjoy doing the online searches now with the new system that they have. It could be that my time is more flexible now than when my kids were in school and traveling with us. Anyone else noticed an improvement in the offerings? I have never been able to pull up a Disney Resort for an exchange until now. TerryC

I'm not sure what time period you're referring to for comparison's sake. I haven't really noted that much different in, say, the last year.

Personally, compared to, say, three years and longer ago, there are many resorts and indeed, entire areas that I am simply not able to get exchanges for in the time period I want to go. The southern gulf coast of Florida in the spring is one example. They were never easy exchanges but obtainable with some good planning. Not anymore - you can look a full two years out and not see more than a few units, and those are not in times I want to go.

That's my empirical evidence only.

Ok, then maybe it is because I have become more flexible with my time? Thanks for the responce though!

RCI more options

I would agree that there are more listed availabilities. Definitely! I have looked a couple of times in the past month for a banked week that I need to use by next Dec. and Wow! I've never had so many options. It's usually just a couple of resorts, but now it appears I have dozens of options. I'm afraid that if I don't get it done here pretty quick, they'll all disapear again (say when the lawsuit is finalized?)

Indeed, the long term trend has to be less inventory of week-for-week exchanges. And not just for RCI, but other exchange companies as well. This was never a good model to begin with and depended upon excess developer inventory to make up the difference in quality trades. The basic flaw is that it's an all-for-nothing exchange, so why on earth would I give up my summer beach week if I don't think I can get something good or better? I think more and more people are now going into mini-clubs with a points system, or going to RCI Points, which is a much better option and much more flexible than a week-for-week exchange.

Of course, there may be blips on the radar and some bulk deposits from developers. I guess the best part from an individual perspective is the overall availability doesn't really matter, as it only takes one week to make that exchange you're looking for. So even if there aren't hundreds of options like before, but you can snag a hard-to-get week by checking every day, then you can still be happy.
