I own 175k Wyndham points and I know Wyndham owns RCI. My question: are the points listed in the RCI book the same or different points? Do I deposit some of my Wyndham points through the Wyndham/RCI reservation specialist? I'm confused - I own at Tahiti Village and two Hilton properties - both exchange with RCI so I'm trying to understand RCI and Wyndham. I have more experience with II and haven't grasped RCI yet.

Wyndham Points are a different denomination than RCI Points.
There's a special portal on the Wyndham website that takes you over to the RCI Weeks website (your membership there is free as a Wyndham Points owner), where you can deposit your Wyndham Points for exchange for RCI Weeks properties. You can also use that portal to look at availability even without depositing those points.
This link may work once you sign in:
https://www.wyndhamvacationresorts.com/ffr/secure/member/exchanges/rciExchangesMain.do

So you have two different ways to spend your Wyndham Points. Either directly at Club Wyndham www.wyndhamvacationresorts.com or via the portal into the RCI Weeks website.

The above assumes the underlying week you own in Wyndham is eligible to trade into RCI. Some Wyndham weeks connect instead to Interval International in a similar manner.

Not a fan of RCI. Wyndham Club Plus/Access points are not the same point system as the RCI point system.

If you want to deposit your Wyndham points into RCI you will need to use the RCI Weeks Program, a different program than the RCI points program.

Yes, you can use the on-line or call in direct to use your Wyndham points in the RCI weeks program. Since you are aware that there is a Wyndham/RCI specialist, then you have broken the code on how to use the Wyndham points in RCI.

If you are eligible for Wyndham Club Pass and WorldMark has locations you want to use, then I would use Wyndham Club Pass over RCI. Also, monitor the Shell thread as the 8 Shell Resorts availability rolls out if you are interested in any of these location.

I believe that OP brought directly from Wyndham - hence, his RCI account should include BOTH the Weeks and Points resorts availability in RCI exchanging. And as a direct buyer, OP would have access to Club Wyndham Pass program.

Everything has it own 'currency' to book weeks. RCI weeks' TPUs, RCI points, Wyndham points -- then the systems you might never come in contact with - Hilton points, Star Options points, DVC points, Hyatt points, Worldmark credits, etc, etc.

For example, I recently exchange thru the Wyndham RCI Portal using my Wyndham points for 2 DVC back-to-back reservations - one had an exchange fee of $149 and the other exchange fee was $199. Both used the same number of Wyndham points - but the different exchange fees TOLD me the one exchange was a WEEKS exchange and the other was a POINTS exchange.

Linda,
I recently made a reservation through the Wyndham RCI Portal for a week at Palm Beach Shores and it cost me $149. I used the cancelled points that I had deposited in RCI last year. I assumed I was doing a Points exchange but since it was for a week at the resort, was it a Weeks exchange? OR, is the fee determined by how the available unit was entered into the RCI system?

If the exchange fee was $149, that was from the Points inventory side of RCI. Points inventory can be booked for various lengths of stay. The fact that your stay happens to be 7 nights doesn't change it from points to weeks.

I bought resale. Thank you all for the insight. So if I deposit my Wyndham points into RCI, I have two years to use them in RCI. How much does it cost to deposit? I'm a little disappointed at Wyndham. The account was set up, but I never received an email or welcome package with information (like I did from Hilton). I called last week and received the member # over the phone and learned it was completed two weeks prior. Today, I received a maintenance bill for this month (it was dated 8/16 and due 8/22 - what?). Not having a good start with Wyndham.

As long as you have an available Reservation Transaction it costs nothing to deposit to RCI.

As to your other issues, you will be a happy Wyndham owner if you are a proactive owner.

As an example, I've had two resale purchases in the last year. One did not get added to my existing account for whatever reason. I knew the timelines for Wyndham to process transfers and contacted them about halfway through. Turns out the transfer completed about a week prior (and 4 weeks ahead of timeline) but I wasn't notified. It was early, so it was cool. The second one showed up in my account upon transfer completion, but I helped it by faxing in a letter to request the new contract be added to my existing membership account.

As the op found out the first notice of a Wyndham transfer is often the maintenance fee bill. They do send out a letter (sometimes) but it often comes after the bill.

so the advice (too late for the op) is to call.

Okay, but what is an "available Reservation Transaction" - I'm in my account now trying to figure this out.

Start reading your Member Directory -- Wyndham has its own language and terms for its product. If you don't have one - call and they will mail you a FREE copy ONCE - when a new version comes out (2015 most likely), they will also require you to request one. Yes, there is an online version of the Member Directory ... but I prefer the paper copy which I use different color HIGHLIGHTERS to improve the information transfer to my brain.

RTs, HKs, ARP, RAPR, GCs, Use Year, Banking window, booking window, etc are terms you need to learn ASAP.

Happy Reading.

The Wyndham Sticky is a good initial source of info as well. A link to the e-Directory can be found in post #3:

If you have online access, the Online Learning Center is also very helpful.

One is allocated 1RT per 77k points owned per year, so a 231k account would get 3 RTs in the year the points are issued. OP, if you bought resale, there may be some RTs that transferred with the account. If they were all used up, you might try to call in and see if they will comp you a few.

BTW, unlike points or housekeeping credits, you won't see how many RTs you have remaining unless you try to make a booking or RCI deposit.

Thanks Chris and Linda. I will call tomorrow on the reservation transaction as I'm still waiting for the RCI account and have 130k points and 175 housekeeping that were transferred this year.
