Cancel and Rebook

I am wondering how long it usually takes for a cancelled reservation to show back in inventory to rebook? I am going to try and cancel and rebook for the discount... I know it is a risk that I may lose it, but I may not get to go anyway, so this would be a good time to give it a try.. I am just wondering how long it usually takes to show back up to rebook... Also, have you found any time that is usually better to try it? early in the morning, mid day, or at night... thanks

Lately it has taken about 1 minute to show the canceled reservation back in inventory. And I usually do it mid-morning as that is when I feel there will be fewer owners looking for a reservation.

Good Luck,

Jim

I would say it has generally taken between 2-3 minutes before it shows back up... for me it seems like it takes just long enough for me to think it isn't coming back until I see it.

I'm not really sure when the best time of day is. I've asked that question to the VC's as well and they aren't sure either (at least, I would say they aren't sure because each of them gives a different answer).

I wonder what is going on in the Wyndham system, as we all see the reentry times increase. I used to see 15 seconds. Then is went to 20. It seemed to jump to 30 and then 45. Then it increased to 55 and now well over a minute. All of this has happened over the last 18 months.

I would like to think that something special is going on inside, such as the addition of new resorts, but I don't think so. The increase has been gradual and persistent. Is Wyndham running two systems, maybe a beta Viking and the two have to talk to each other?

I would be interested in seeing what other Tuggers' speculations are as to what might be the reasons for the ever increasing slow response in the system.

They have announced that they are migrating to a new website, myclubwyndham.com, but no timeline for when it betas or goes live. Your thoughts above could be accurate.

Do you suppose they built in a latency on purpose to discourage the practice? I'd be curious to see if others can see the cancelled room before you (the "canceller") do.

Anything unusual at Club Destin? I've missed cancel/rebook there twice in a row now.

Call 'em up! Ask them if they are taking any units out of service for that week/those weeks.

If no, then look for the weeks in Extra Holidays.

Let us know. What happens to reservations lost during re-booking is one of the great mysteries of our time. Like the Bermuda Triangle, yeti, and Area 51.
