Have you considered asking the seller to book a reservation for you, just in case? Even if the sale closes soon, it'll take Starwood at least a week to register you as the owner in their system. Enjoy your ocean front view!!

Yes that is a good suggestion I jus t thought that it is so close 10 days that I would be ok and wonder if the resservation might get lost in the shuffle

One of the reasons I sold my WKORV-N OF unit was because I was unable to get the February reservation I wanted at 12 months out. Within 10 minutes, everything was gone.

Not trying to scare you, but realize that competition is fierce for February and multi-week/fixed week owners have a leg up on you. Definitely have a Plan B in place.

Best of luck and congratulations. I hope you enjoy many vacations in paradise.

It won't get lost in the shuffle. You will be on record as the seller's guest, and when your account is updated with Starwood, the reservation will already be in place as yours. Syed contacted the seller and asked him to make a reservation for us, when our recent purchase was close to closing. Even after it closed, Starwood took another ten days to acknowledge the transfer of ownership (the "verification process"), and during that time, I would not have been able to make a reservation. Good luck and I hope everything works out the way you want! CJ

Yes, but the OPer is asking for reservations for Feb 2016, so the former owner cannot make reservations yet as it's outside of 12 months.

This is going to be tricky. I'd even advise delaying the closing a few weeks if you can be assured that the seller will do what he/she can to make the reservation at exactly 12 months out. Otherwise, you might find yourself in an awkward period where the prior owner has relinquished control, but it's not in your name yet.

Good point, Lisa. I like your idea about trying to delay closing. We were lucky, in that we wanted a ressie that was just 10 months out, so we were still in the home resort preference period. I have a feeling that the OP is looking for President's week? Timing will be everything… CJ

We have been using our OF at WKRON for the last week of January and first week of February and have not had any trouble getting reservations. Now we avoid the President's day week, so that ios surely a factor.

The resort is "Full" (i.e. all rooms occupied) when we come, but not crowded. We overlapped with Presidents weekend one time and noticed a big difference in crowds at the pools on the weekend. My belief is that during the non-President's day week, the units are rented mostly by retired folks, so there are usually only two people in each unit. During the holiday week, kids are out of school, so most units have more than two occupants. It really makes a difference in the perception of crowding at the resort.

capjak,

Well done! If they follow their 10 business day policy, you should be able to get your Feb. 2016 reservation. Congrats! CJ

I was actually told by LT transfers that SVO Title Dept is now running an average of 30 days (1 month) on the turnaround. Used to be 10 business days :annoyed:

Here's hoping for underpromise and over deliver!

Talked to Starwood tittle today and they said they are averaging 12 business days, they pulled up my email of the deed I sent while I was on the phone and stated they could not print it out because too dark background and had me send another copy.

One of the managers explained to me that the resort is almost always 95%+ occupied and they considered it to be busy during school holidays for the reason you gave below. During holidays the average occupancy does rise from two to four or more.

Yes will be in OceanFront WKORVNorth Jan30 studio for 7 nights and than a 1 bedroom for 7 nights leaving Feb 13.

The starwood got me on line within, I think 3 days really good service and was able to make the reservation.
