We are going to Vegas and wanna go see the grand canyon and was wondering if any one has a nice drive/best view and directions in mind. We have a car so no problem. Thanks Mike
I would take one of the many flying overviews of GC. To do it driving you will do 10ish hours of nothing but desert driving- not too scenic. Add whatever time you want to spend in GCNP and you can see it's a very long day. Or two. Sign on to www.Groupon.com for LV, they frequently have 2fer1 deals on stuff including shows, flightseeing, food. It's easy to unsubscribe after you get back home.
Here's an overview of some of the flying tours available: http://www.scenic.com/ There are others as well.
I did a helicopter tour. landed in the Grand Canyon, had lunch and horseback riding then took the copter back. Left from the airport, all for around $250/pp

We made that mistake one year (and a similar one thinking Miami & Orlando were a day trip apart). When you're talking 350-500 miles it is NOT a day trip. To enjoy the GC plan on at least one full day staying in that area. We didn't & we should have. It was rush rush and not as enjoyable as it would have been if we had figured it out better.
Get a room for at least one night in the GC area if you plan to drive to & from LV to the GC.
