Forced Vacation

I bought a 7000 Point Resale Platinum Package in South Beach, Fl this past January which came with 7000 2011 (already rescued) points that were paid for by the Seller and that we had to use in 2011. Just reading a few months of this forum provided a complete education.

I bought the timeshare (my first and probably only) because the location was exactly where my wife, I and two teenagers wanted to go and the price was "very" right. But the real benefit of this (more than anything else) is that it has forced me to plan trips. We have four day weekends planned in September and November and a week next March. I never would have booked these short 4 day weekends if it was not for this timeshare. We all know how many times we say "we should do something over that 4 day weekend" and then it gets here and we have not planned anything.

This has worked out very well for us. Those on the fence concerning a resale should keep the above in mind.

that's a true value of timeshares
I own over 15 TS and always feel happiness when I plan for next trip(s).
I have to use those weeks because I own them.
If I didn't own any TS, I would spend my life by postpone any future plan all the time.
Now I have to go "here and there" because I own so many weeks!

We wish so much that we would have purchased years ago and had been able to vacation more in a condo, as we only spent time going to relatives and never went anywhere just as a family vacation, especially when the kids were younger.

I agree with the 4 or 5 day strategy of point use. I'm often ready to be done with a trip on day 4 or 5 unless it's a place that required a long flight.

South Beach is great! I bought there in 2010 and went this March.

Fantastic property, I love Miami, so happy to be an owner there.

I never took a real vacation until I started timesharing. Everything had to be an educational meeting I could use as a tax deduction. There was no stress relief. Timesharing has forced me to relax a little and enjoy life.
