In searching the Weeks reservation section of the RCI Points web site last night, all of the weeks available within the next 5 weeks were listed as requiring the full point value instead of the usual 7500 to 9000 Points that are supposed to be needed within the 30 day window. What's up with that???

There's no end to the nonsense RCI dishes out to its members--those unfortunate ones who have not yet abandoned ship.

If it is a computer error, what else is new? Their incompetency in that area is legendary.

But if it is a major change in the "rules" of the RCI Points program, it's outrageous, and not without precedent.

I placed a May week on hold and will call today to see how many Points are needed to reserve it. If it is 35,000 Points, no way will I confirm it.

RCI Error

I have an error on My Account. When I go to "Search for a Vacation" I see something in red that says "Other Weeks". I click on that and I see two litings of "One Plus One" with some dates after them. The page says I cannot use these weeks on line but must call RCI. I called them (about 3 or 4 months ago) and was told this was an error and just to ignore it. The "error" is still there. You would think they would correct situations like this.

I am interested in hearing how this works out, as I am looking at buying a low MF, medium points level in order to take advantage of the 7500-9000 point specials...but if they are drying up, I won't bother..please post if this changes!

PS is there any way for a non RCI member to preview these kinds of deals to see what might be available at any given time?

Jennie, what happened? If they take that away, RCI Points become much less valuable to me.

RCI evidently has a bug in their system (imagine my surprise). I'm experiencing the same situation now.

WARNING: This explanation will be difficult to follow for those not familiar with the RCI points system.

I reserved through the web team using my RCI points a week from the "weeks side" who's checkin date is December 2011. The web team has to complete these types of exchanges because of another bug in the system.

My use year runs Dec 1 - Nov 30, so I'm currently in the middle of my 2009 use year.

I've used all my 2009 use year points and have been using my 2010 use year points for my reservations. My 2010 use year runs until Nov 30, 2011. So December 2011 would be the begining of my 2011 use year.

In this situation, the RCI system transfers 2010 use year points to the 2011 use year to cover the December 2011 reservation. The bug in the system is that the entire 2010 use year balance gets transferred to 2011 instead of the specific number of points to cover the reservation.

Calling to get this resolved (a couple of times now) is taking up to a week.

The effect is that the system currently shows that I have zero available points to make an exchange. This would pervent me from making any online exchange. RCI claims that if I needed to make an exchange that a VC(probably with supervisor help) could complete the exchange. Even if that is true, it would of course limit when I could make an exchange to those hours that RCI supports the phones.
