I was browsing StarCentral and noticed some odd verbiage that I haven't seen before. If you browse to the Vacation Ownership Calendar, the footnote on each page states the following:

"Check-in at The Westin St. John Resort & Villas, Coral Vista is Friday only."

Anybody have any idea what that means? It says the same thing on the Check-in Days Chart as well. But if I use the Online Reservations system, it locates "3 Bedroom Lockoff Villa" options (which are certainly in WSJ-CV) for Saturday and Sunday check-ins as well. Perhaps home resort reservations are only available for Friday check-ins, and SVN reservations open it up to other days?

if it helps any we made two CV reservations for March 2015 that are Friday to Friday. the reservations were for a two bedroom and a studio that are not part of a 3br lock off. We made the reservation over the phone

With Staroption reservations, you can check in any day of the week, if available.

It's the same rule at most resorts, except most resorts have Fri.-Sat.-Sun. home resort reservation check-in, instead of just Friday.

It makes no sense that CV Owners will only be able to check-in on Fridays.

It may not make any sense, but it seems like that's the rule! Unless anyone can provide a counterpoint such as a CV home resort reservation (made 9-12 months in advance) that is not for Friday check-in.

Friday check-ins would require working folks to take an extra day of vacation, as Friday would have to be a travel day. Blech!

I have a reservation next year, checking on Saturday, July 25th. I own 2 Coral Vista weeks, and I've never heard of Friday only check-in. In fact, I can check-in any day of the week during my Home Resort period.

I would think this popular for East Coast masters of the universe leave work at 2pm and start Friday evening on the island maximising Saturday.

Well that is interesting! I wonder what the Friday check-in is referring to??

Who knows - just made no sense - it is weird though.
Someone pays a small fortune for CV and then told - oops sorry - only Friday check-in...
If you are truly interested - call them and ask. It would not be the 1st that they had incorrect document text.

Coral Vista owners can check in on any day of the week. (It may be that this requires availability, but their words don't add this constraint. I'll see it I can find again their exact words and post them.)

Coral Vista check-in days

These are the words from the "Using Your Ownership" page on MyStarCentral (note the concluding sentence):

"Established Check-in Days

Established check-in days for Starwood Vacation Network villa resorts are Friday, Saturday or Sunday for Home Resort reservations and vary by resort. The Home Resort Reservation Period allows for reservations confirmed twelve (12) to eight (8) months prior to your desired arrival date, and require a stay of seven (7) consecutive nights with arrival on established check-in days for your Home Resorts. This does not apply to Coral Vista Owners, who can reserve stays for less than seven nights and check in any day."

Of course it says that...
versus - sorry suckers... Friday checkin only... :D

A while ago - I found an error in something that was stated on the SVO site for WKORV (vs WKORV site). I contacted them and they corrected it.

I would think this popular for East Coast masters of the universe leave work at 2pm and start Friday evening on the island maximising Saturday.

That might work for trips to Florida, but impractical for St. John. We take nonstops from NYC and leaving our apartment at 6am means arrival at WSJ at 3pm if we time the ferry perfectly. I'm not aware of any early afternoon flights from the northeast, let alone one later than 4pm, whch you'd need to work the morning.

Between work and having to pull the kids out of school, I wouldn't buy a Friday-only timeshare. Hard to imagine that's the only option they'd offer since it takes away a lot of potential buyers.
