Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
must be something in the water...now after not having this ever happen in 23 years...two people in less than a month have both discovered TUG, got exactly the help they were looking for...and then demanded refunds.

this newest person joined a few months back, and after being told about the wyndham ovation program let us know today they successfully deeded their interval back to wyndham...and now would like a refund of their TUG membership.

Incredible!

Shameless ingrates...

The actions of these ingrates is entirely beyond my comprehension. It's your decision to make as owner of this site, but personally I'd be strongly inclined to just say:
"You're welcome! The valuable advice and information you obtained here saved you thousands of dollars and has cost you only fifteen bucks. Have a nice day!"

P.S. Maybe it's time to adopt and openly state a formal "no membership refunds" policy, unless requested (for any reason) within 5 days of paid membership.
That time frame would be completely consistent with the most common timeshare contract rescission periods in place among states in the U.S.A., btw). :)

I think it is pretty low to ask for a refund from TUG after getting the advice they requested from Tug members. If it was a $15 refund? Really??

Dear Username,

Congratulations on successfully deeding your interval back to the developer. I must admit I am a little confused on your request for a refund. While I understand you may no longer own any timeshares and have no interest in acquiring another one, and therefore will likely not renew, from your numerous posts I assumed you received some value for your $15.00 membership fee.

In fact, had TUG not been here you would still be paying maintenance fees on your interval. So, I'm in complete agreement. Let's act as if TUG had never existed. I will happily deduct $15.00 from your next maintenance payment and you can continue to remit these payments to me instead of Wyndham.

Sincerely,

The TUG team

in the grand scheme of things, its only 15 dollars...and our policy is if a membership is relatively new and someone asks for a refund, we grant it. Its not really worth someone getting angry about and then posting all over social media/etc that we refused to refund their money.

I dont really think the community gains anything by forcing someone like that to maintain their membership, I dont think they would bring much to the table anyway.

was an old saying I recall something like "If you loan a friend money and never hear from them again, it was probably worth it"

I suppose that either person could have gotten the same advice as a "guest." It is just the principal that they benefited so much that they can't consider $15 as a cheap consulting fee. Heck, most lawyers won't talk to you without charging something. These people are probably the ones who pocket the sugar packets at McDonalds. Brian, you have a great attitude and a great website.

Some folks think that since they can get free internet, the information they receive from it should be too. I admit there has been much water under the bridges since I sent Wikimedia a few coins. I'll get right on that.

I simply can't fathom why someone would ask for a paltry membership refund after getting great, free advice which saved them thousands...??!!! I don't know--it seems--somewhat irrational.

What goes around comes around.

Call it karma or mere coincidence, but I've seen enough evidence of someone getting what's coming to them due to a kind or unkind act. I've been on the giving and receiving end of both, and have learned that, given a choice, it's better to be kind or receive unkindness than to be unkind or receive kindness from others.

If these people think the kindness and generosity they were shown was not worth $15, I hope they're ready when the universe tries to collect what they owe. It may very well cost them more than the $15 they didn't think was worth paying.

karma does come around, a nice kind soul sent in a payment to cover the OPs refunded membership.

I went ahead and added a year to their membership, those are the sorts of folks we want to keep around anyway =)
