I had a reservation for a 2 bedroom at Harborside that I gave my cousin and her family to use. It was for May 8-15. She shows up on May 2nd because she mixed up the dates.

The thing that surprised me the most was that the resort actually was able to adjust and accommodate her. She called me when she returned .I was really happy that they were so fortunate to get a room at all.

That's very impressive, especially for Harborside. The staff is always very friendly, but every time I arrive at Harborside (on the correct date), the check-in experience always has a way of making me feel lucky that I got a room at all.

Didn't she have the confirmation from Starwood in-hand???

Wow - I am amazed! Was this a SVN or II reservation? Either way, I'm surprised. I would have expected them to find last minute hotel options...

I am OCD about checking dates, and other travel details, so I can't imagine overlooking something so major. :ignore:

She looked at the reservations when she got in line at the check in counter .She said she was in tears when she read it. She's not new to timeshares she owns several Marriotts and is usually very sharp she just dropped the ball on this one. She was thrilled with the resort, the customer service and the way her situation was resolved. She wrote a complementary letter to management about it. I've been there at least 8 times and couldn't get them to budge an inch on early check in or a better building lol.

This was a SVN reservation. I was also a little surprised that I was never contacted by Starwood. I used 81,000 staroptions to book the room. That had to be adjusted.

Yet another reason I pay for TripIt. It's been very helpful for peace of mind when planning trips and reviewing the details just prior (when I'm typically short on sleep and attention).

I made the mistake last year at another resort. I had a home resort week 27 with a Saturday check in. I was matching it with week 27 RCI exchange Friday check in ar a resort on the beach 3 blocks down. Turns out the week 27s didn't match because of the checking dates. I had the RCI confirmation in hand and called my home resort. They were very apologetic but told me my Saturday check in started the week before.

I bought a folder with 8 compartments, put my upcoming trips in order, review it reorganize it and try to keep things straight. My worry is if I bring wrong paperwork, always triple check myself. Your cousin is lucky the resort was accommodating, it is good for business though. I bet she will be more careful with her itineraries from now on!

She is lucky it is May. She would have not been so lucky during school vacation periods. I appreciate Okwiater's comment. I don't think I've ever gotten into my room at Harborside before 5pm. It should be interesting this Thanksgiving - there will be 16 of us checking into 2 units
