Has anyone every heard of DMMI (Diversity marketing and Media, Inc.) in Mt. Pleasant, SC? We received a phone call from them stating they are a referral company and had a buyer that wanted to buy our timeshare. They forwarded a Purchase Agreement for our signature. Red flags are going up:

1. The address of the company is an apartment.
2. The Purchase Agreement is from a lender (Noble Finance). I wasn't aware that Finance Companies were Licensed Real Estate Agents.
3. They want an upfront fee for finding the buyer
4. The sales price is unbelievably high.

And, no, we did not list it for sale. We would love to sell it, but don't know how they got our name. The unit is Harbor Point. Everything about this sounds so fishy.

Yes - any company that charges an upfront fee is a scammer. They will collect your fee, and ride off into the sunset. Reputable brokers deduct their fees from the proceeds of the sale.

Scam...avoid it.

Have you reached out to MVC directly to see if they would make you an offer to buy it back?

Most assuredly a scam for all the red flags you cite. Don't waste your time with them. Or for that matter anyone else that asks for an upfront fee. Their commission should rightfully come out of the proceeds at closing.

Not bad....4 minutes for 3 responses to a new poster, and all with the same advice. :)

Thanks everyone for your advice. Knew it was too good to be true. Yes, we did call MVC and they are not buying back Harbor Point. This has been a thorn in our side for a while. I really appreciate your replies. The last thing we want to do is get into one of these scams.

There are some TUGgers who are legitimate brokers who deal with the higher end hotel branded TSs. I can't speak for them, but perhaps if you looked around the site a bit for Seth Nock or Judy Koz, you might find what you are seeking. (try the) search function. :)

If your call was a while ago, it might be worth checking again. HERE is a post just today from somebody with a value season HHI week that MVC just reached out to with a buy back offer.

Even if they still won't do a buyback, they may resell it for you. They handle everything and all you have to do is visit the notary and wait for your check for a few months. It is well worth it to have them sell it if it is indeed a thorn in your side.
