Marriott plans 190 more units at ko olina

The Orlando-based timeshare giant will add these units to its existing 560 units that are already built, bringing its total at the West Oahu property to 750 units.

It looks like they plan to finally build the fourth building. I think four buildings is all that was planned. Even though we heard of some sales reps talking about another building set back and not in the place of where the fourth one was expected.

This is good news I suppose. I don't know though if there are additional public areas planned or if this will just cause more people in the already existing public spaces?

Very interesting !!!

I just got an exchange into Ko'Olina today.
It'll piggy-back onto my owner's week the week before.

When I spoke to II today, they read a whole list of "notices" including "ongoing construction that may have construction noises" or words to that affect.

I had to wait for ages for this exchange to come in so... I'm a happy camper. :banana:

The plans for Ko Olina have always been for a total of 750 units in four buildings. It looks like the resort will finally be completed with this fourth building. I believe they are planning an additional restaurant and I would assume another pool and perhaps other new public spaces.

We Live in Interesting Times

I have been concerned for far to many years that Timeshares were never going to regain all the ground and reputation that they lost.

Now with major players like Marriott, Hilton, Westin, and Hyatt finally showing a commitment, I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Ko o lina is wonderful. It is like I am rediscovering Oahu which I have stayed away from for several years. Now a week at Ko o lina and some time at the Hilton Waikiki and I am fully satisfied with just one trip through TSA.

ko'olina restaurant?

when we went to the owners meeting a couple of months ago the GM said
they were looking at a couple of restaurants - one being duke's. I think that
would be a nice addition! they mentioned it possibly being located between
naia and the new bldg overlooking the ocean. who knows what will be the
final choice??

Dukes would be nice. With Aulani, remodeled Four Seasons coming and 190 more units at Marriott I think they can support a Dukes there. Very cool.

Got an exchange from II for this year:

Check-in: October 3rd 2015 2-BD/2-BA

The week before is our Owner's Week.

We make it a point to stay away from summer (June, July & August) weeks.
Too many kids and too popular exchange requests.

Plus, airfare usually drops after the summer demand period.

We could have been at HHI(MSN) this week(Ooch),but traded away our week with II. We have a request for Ko Olina or Maui anytime 2016. Trading July 4, 2015 on HHI; what do you think my chances of getting what I want. It appears II is honoring request at about three months out. If so I have a bit of a wait!!

If you have a request in now for 2016 and are not asking for a prime week your changes should be very good for Ko Olina or Maui Ocean Club (MMO). MM1 however which has full kitchens will be a very hard trade and likely only 90 days out.

We put a request for Ko Olina on February 1st this year. Request was for a 1 or 2 bedroom in Oct '15 (using 2 bedroom Cypress Harbour summer week). We received a confirmation in early July for a 1 bedroom mountain view. With the TUG sightings this week and having bought eplus I was able to upgrade the week (exact same days) to a 2 bedroom ocean view.

Since you specified "anytime 2016" and for Ko'Olina and any resort on Maui,
I'd say your chances of snagging a trade are EXCELLENT. :banana:

I've had excellent success trading a 2BR Willow Ridge for a 1BR Maui Ocean Club -- I've gotten the exact week that I want, which is a prime week. The downtrade makes a major difference.

What size unit are you requesting at Ko Olina or Maui? I think if you are looking for a 2BR, that will be more challenging. A 1BR should come through easily.

Thanks to all for your insight. We need a 2BR, traveling with family. Hoping for an early match so we can coordinate everything. My wife and I will extend trip for ourselves using rewards points, perhaps doing some island hooping.

I still think you will be okay. Offering up a 2BR prime week for a 2BR unit at Ko'Olina for just about any time in 2016 should prove successful. If you owned a lock off, I would have suggested two separate requests in to a 1BR and a studio and then have the resort match them up to give you a 2BR unit. That is what we did back in 2010 at Ko'Olina when we needed a 2BR unit. Of course, we did pay two exchange fees. Something that is now avoided with enrolled weeks.

Do you all think my request is to broad (anytime 2016). Perhaps I should exclude the summer months and avoid possible conflict with our July 4th week at HHI 2016. I'm sure we will have better flight options Jan.-May and Sept.-Oct.

Definitely better flight (and exchange) options compared to when kids are out on summer break. Families with school-age kids come out of the woodwork.
