Any suggestions on fun things to do on the weekend in this area? I find myself working here for a month with no advance notice to do any research. (Unfortunately, one of the team members had a heart attack and died a few days before he was due to travel to here.) Working very long hours Monday - Friday, but have weekends off. All ladies. At age 55, I'm the youngest (quite a rare treat).

The ladies rode a train to Chicago the weekend before I arrived, so probably won't want to go there again. Last Sunday we took a boat ride out of the harbor onto the lake and got to see the Kite Festival from the water. Next Saturday we plan to hit a couple of museums for the Smithsonian free day. We've been to the Farmers Market twice (the sweet corn was SOOOOO good). Some of them are shoppers, but a couple of us are not. I did hit the Mills Fleet Store this morning because they had jeans advertised. I also stumbled onto the Master Gardeners gardens at an old farmhouse and dairy barn just down the street from the hotel last weekend.

Any suggestions for favorite restaurants or other fun things to do are appreciated.

Sheila,
Definitely visit the Milwaukee Zoo; it's one of the real good ones. Also, if you like German food, try Kegel's Inn. It might be in West Allis, not really sure. It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Brookfield. Food was excellent and prices were about 60% of the big name places in downtown Milwaukee.

Thanks for the tip, Bob. We had good Italian food today. German sounds good for another day.

Not sure if we'll make it to the zoo. I forgot to mention that one of our number has an injured ankle and we can't do tons of walking.

For fine dining, I suggest the Gasthaus (German)...

Lake Park Bistro (French)...

5 O'clock for Steaks... (not a great neighborhood, but mmmm)

Put the Milwaukee Art Museum on your list.
