I have never booked an open season (i.e. cash) reservation at a HGVC property. Before I do I have a couple of questions.

1) Does Hilton, or the city the resort is in (Vegas) charge an occupancy tax on top of the $60 or $80 per night for the room?

2) If I reserve 3-nights in open season can I change that to 2 night down the road if necessary? Is there a fee for that? What about canceling the entire reservation?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

Taxes are charged on top of the rate, they seem lower than typical hotel taxes though.

Changes or cancelation is subject to the typical rules, once you book you start to loose money, you can drop a night off but often you won't see any money saved.

I use open season for Vegas trade shows all the time. Its a better value than staying at the group rates at the LV Hilton, and I get a suite. The cancellation policy is the only drawback, but you get an incredible rate. I found that during conventions the 60 specials and promo's at resorts disappear and full rack rates appear or the group rate, and open season is half the rate. its a great member benefit.
