If I purchase a resale at the Bay Club that is not currently in the HGVC system, can I still join HGVC and be alloted the points that this unit is worth? The owner indicates it is 1 bedroom, and that is worth 4800 points. I thought all 1 bedroom units at Bay Club were worth 5000 HGVC points.
Any info is appreciated
Karen

It is my understanding that you can pay to join HGVC if you own at Bay Club, I believe it is $399 or $499 to join.

And yes, 1BR at Bay Club is 4,800 points.

Thanks and good luck!

Pay a one-time activation fee of $399 and you are "in like flint."
HGVC treats Bay Club like an adopted child, meaning while not exactly blood, its darn clse.

Don't pay too much, they are selling for $300 on eBay.

Enrollment for resale buyers can vary from affiliate to affiliate. Bay Club and the SW Florida resorts simply require a reconversion fee after closing. The Fiesta Americana contracts simply transfer automatically. Club Intrawest have to be purchased at a specific price to be eligible. And the Grand Pacifics simply don't allow the points to transfer.

The only suggestion I'd make regarding Bay Club is to consider the annual costs there. Fees are higher for that resort each year than for most any other affiliate.. If you are simply buying for points, you might want to consider another resort.
