We have a June 25, 2017 HHI Grande Ocean week that I am considering exchanging through II for a November 2017 week in Orlando. Fairly new to II exchanges, what is the likelihood of finding something at one of the Palms?

Thanks.

November in Orlando I believe is an easy trade (depending on your dates). Looks like you have a platinum Grande Ocean week. Before you exchange it, look at the getaways first - a lot of time Orlando in November can be had for a fraction of your Grande Ocean maintenance fees. If you exchange, place a request first and request what you want. We like Marriott Grande Vista, Lakeshore Reserve and Cypress Harbour. We have never stayed at any of the Marriott Palms resorts.

I 100% agree. If you are looking at November in Orlando (with the exception of thanksgiving week) you are MUCH better off keeping your week for use or some other exchange. Marriotts in November are very cheap via Getaways. I quick look at what is available for Nov this year and you will find 2BRs at either of the Palms for around $400 for $450. Thanksgiving week jumps to $1,300.

But if you do exchange I have found the palms easy to get ( by request at least). They are older so I don't think people request as much but we enjoy them and the proximity to world center.

Don't do it! Rent that unit out for big bucks and then book a getaway for a few hundred. Orlando is plenty and cheap! It is the polar opposite of summer on HHI.

If you want Thanksgiving week it will obviously be more expensive on the getaway but still...

Completely agree. Rent the unit out for big $$$ and buy a getaway for less than maintenance fees. From the rental of your Grande Ocean, you can buy a getaway and have $1000 or so left for spending money

I checked the prices. All the November weeks are less than $500 except Thanksgiving. That one jumps to about $1,250-$1,300 depending on Basic, Gold, or Plat. Your Grande Ocean week will easily fetch $2,500. So even if you want Thanksgiving week at a Palms you will still have $1,200 cash left over. If you want an earlier week than you will have $2,000.

If you are not familiar or comfortable renting out your unit there are probably a few tuggers that would do it for you for a small fee. I think there are a few that handle others rentals but I have never personally been involved in it.

I have another suggestion.

If II is offering an accommodation certificate for your week, Orlando is probably on the grid in November and you could probably get it for less than the getaway. You'll have no issue getting one of the palms resorts.

Your Grande Ocean weeks is probably worth $2000-3000 for the week if you want to rent it.

No no no, deposit that week in II so one of us can come along and snag a great exchange :D.

Just kidding. I agree with others. Either use the week for a much harder exchange than Orlando or rent it out and then use the proceeds to rent a getaway.

RENT, RENT, RENT, RENT, RENT.

You'll get $2500-3000 easily, depending on whether Oceanside or Oceanfront.
With that, you can obtain that GV week cheaply via several means and have lots left over....maybe at most $700 on TUG or Redweek.com, and as low as an Accommodations Certificate for less than $200. Many have those in their accounts and don't use them. If worse comes to worse, let me or another Tugger know and we'll help you get one of those. A Guest Certificate in your name can be added inexpensively.
