They must be nuts
David, Hyatt Coconut Plantation is a beautiful resort and you kids will love it. The beach is reached by boat and it is a private island, the resort cannot control the water. It is generally clear and it is shallow. But, if they wind is coming in from a specific direction it will swirl up the sand because it is shallow. But it is a beautiful island and you should enjoy it. Some people complain about the boat ride, but you will more then likely see dolphins. Most folks have to pay for a boat ride to see dolphins!
Also the lazy river and the big slide at the sister property Hyatt Coconut Pointe will be a big hit with the kids. The Hyatt Coconut Pointe and Coconut Plantation both have schedules with actives for the kids. The grounds and the rooms are beautiful, the rooms are easily one of nicest timeshare rooms you will stay in. I always cook breakfast and we eat it in the screened balcony, we will many times see Ospery or other wildlife. It is not a waterfront view, but I do not think that will cause distress in your vacation. At least, I hope it does not...
In the lobby at Coconut Plantation they have checkers, chess boards, outside any sport you want is available at no cost. You want a basketball - they have it, you want to play ping pong - they have it. I do not know how old your kids are - but they will love the place. It is a safe place for them to act like kids - enjoy yourself and be sure to use the free shuttle and go to the hotel. It is listed as one of America's top 100 hotels - it is very friendly and casual. You can walk thru the marble check in lobby with a bathing suit cover - up. It is not stuffy, only fun!
