I'm not sure where you heard the term but while traveling on I75 from Toledo to Cincy I would pass a church on the left hand side that has a very large statue of Jesus with both his arms raised high in the air. The people in the area refer to this statue as "touchdown Jesus."

There is an article in wikipedia of it burning down and being replaced. The link won't work here.

Apropos of this, (not to hijack the thread), at a scenic overlook on I-280 just south of San Francisco there's a huge statue of Father Junipero Serra, pointing west. (Serra was the 18th century Franciscan monk who built most of California's missions).

More than once over the last few decades, during Stanford's homecoming week, I've seen someone build a giant football underneath Fr. Serra's outstretched index finger. It looked like it took a lot of work.

Anyone looked at Notre Dame's record (and scores) in their last three BCS bowl games? It's bad. I think it's time for ND to join a real football conference, and until they do, keep them out!

overlooking the notre dame football stadium is a huge mural on a wall of another campus building...it depicts jesus with his hands up in the air (im pretty sure it had nothing to do with football when it was erected)....but its commonly known as "Touchdown Jesus"
