Hey all,
We 2 adults are staying at Tuscany. Is that the best site - renovations, quiet pools, (good) dinners close by?

I bought resale and own at Flamingo. I assume I won't get any freebies on this trip?

Also, we would like to be a little active before the heat sets in- like bike rentals and 9 holes of golf. Can you recommend good places for that where the prices are reasonable?

Thanks!

My advise get up early, before it gets too hot, then go to a shady spot or indoors til late afternoon, then go out after dark and explore. Have fun and wear sunscreen!

For Nearby Dining, I suggest looking at the reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor.

I don't know the answers to your questions regarding reasonable priced bike rentals and golf.
I know Disney World offers bike rentals and golf but I'm sure there are other less expensive options.

Just a suggestion since you mention quiet pool....
If you can, I would go in Oct, Nov or early Dec (instead of July) for better weather and less crowds. The HGVC resorts won't be as busy and the overalll resort should be quieter.

Orlando in general will be packed with families any time the kids are out of school (all major holidays, spring/summer/winter breaks). Expect tons of kids everywhere in Orlando (pools, parks, restaurants, etc) during these peak time periods.

The HGVC Resorts will be busy during these time periods as well. They have activities and movies geared for the kids year round and I'm sure these activities are well attended during these peak time periods. Here are some examples:
- Tuscany Activity Calendar
- Tuscany Movie Calendar

Thanks, but that's the week we have vacation. Need to use points. I see groupon has a deal for some bike rental near Mineola lake. Might look into that.

I really do wish I could go to places I want rather than the 2-3 HGVC locations. but that's a gripe for another post. :ignore:

I suggest starting a new thread. Perhaps folks can help you get to the places you want to go.

I see that your previous TUG post was in 2010 when you had problems using your 2009 and 2010 points after buying resale back in 2008. Keep in mind that you can always sell your HGVC ownership if you're not getting what you want out of it. Everyone's travel needs and wants will change over time. You're not stuck with your timeshare forever. It's best to sell it now while it still has some value.

Also, HGVC is not the only game in town. I would spend some time on TUG to learn about the other options available to you and your family. Each timeshare system has their PROs and CONs.

If you haven't been around on TUG, here are some old threads you might find helpful

July -Orlando

Florida is hot in July and the entertainment parks are bustling, but you and your family can have fun. Biking and local walks: Orange Park trail, Leu Gardens, and Enola Lake (look for reviews on Gogobot or Tripadvisor). Siesta the heat away in midday. Greet the dawn and burn the nightime oil.

October is a good time for less crowded parks, but your pool temperatures will be warmer and better in summer. Heated pools in November for example are less crowded but nippy.

Wishes for a fun trip,
Betsy
