i want to pick up a small one bedroom sdo mostly as a trader but also knowing that is where i want to go if i didn't trade it. is there any benefit to getting on the free/resale market a small one bedroom platinum 1-20 and 50-52 vs a 1-52. i think if staroptions were to be connected to them and they are not at this point, it would be 67k for the platinum and only 37k for the 1-52. thoughts?

I will get a Plat+ SDO week if both were available

There was a recent thread about the difficulty experienced by 1-52 float owners in reserving a March week (for usage or rental) even when booking was attempted at 365 days prior to check-in.

I'm not sure how quantifiable is the diff in II trading power between a 1-52 vs. Plat+ week though. I'll let others chime-in.

This thread may help answer your question. It seems if you want to reserve a high demand week in the Platinum season, you have an advantage over a Red float 1-52 owner if you have a true platinum deed. I also read someone suggesting a true platinum week having an edge as a trader over a red float week.

Not an owner myself, but looking into a possible SDO acquisition.

Definitely should go with a true platinum over 1-52. I used to own both and for more difficult trades like Harbourside, the Large 1 Br platinum could see 2BR Harborside and more weeks over the 1-52 or even the small platinum 1BR.

I sold my 1-52 a couple of years ago.

Recently, I had no problem with SDO availabilty in March using my platinum weeks at the same time when 1-52 week owners reported availability issues at 12th month.

The 2 br annual SDO have (or had who knows going into the future) a higher resale value due to requalifying. The 1 br platinum still should be nearly free. Might as well go with the platinum if the prices are about the same for the times when the difference in trading power and high time reservation ability does make a difference.

Great. Thanks. Yes they're both free so I'll go with the platinum
