I am not a owner at St John's Westin (Visitana). I used the exchange for a late October week. 1 bedroom. It was for my daughter's honeymoon. She has other plans now. I made a mistake last year and did not convert so these options (and another 140,000) will expire at 12/31.

I am a California guy and traveling to St Johns is not that exciting.

Suggestions? Rent it here or (gasp) redweek? Get another unit for rent? I am new to tug bbs.

Just so you know, it is "St. John," no "s".

Unfortunately, your date is really off-season and WSJ is not a strong renter anyway. You might get enough to cover your maintenance fee, but that date won't be easy to rent.

I would advertise it as many places as possible - I use TUG, Redweek, and Craigslist.

As far as getting a new unit for rent - it's really too late in the year to find anything (resorts are booked up) although it wouldn't hurt to see if Thanksgiving is available.

Have you considered changing the reservation to a resort the you can use yourself? Like something closer to CA? Maybe a couple of long weekends if you can't use a full week this year.

FYI - The 61 day cancellation deadline will be in Aug.

According to the rules, you are not allowed to rent an exchange. You can only rent out your home resort. I don't know if VSE will enforce these rules, but they are definitely in place.

It is also difficult to rent WSJ. Somehow the fixed week, and it still being hurricane season in October is not conducive to a successful rental.

Any chance you could exchange into somewhere you might want to go? Maybe Hawaii?Cancel the St. John reservation and go to Kauai or Maui.

I can do that. I might do Phoenix instead. I was really tough to get a 1 bedroom. Now I know why. No lockoffs, few 1 bedrooms, mostly 2 and 3 bedrooms.

I did not know about the exchange rule.Since my daughter was going to use it, that would not be a problem.

BTW- I did an exchange to Maui, I am EOY odd owner. I gave it to a friend who has been fighting cancer. He got an ocean view prime room.
