I just completed my first RCI exchange, but I think I may have goofed..... It is my parents' 45th wedding anniversary and they have always wanted to go to Branson. My parents have never had the opportunity or ability to go anywhere and have never gone anywhere with just the 2 of them. My siblings and I thought it would be a great idea to get them a last call exchange into Branson and they were going to help me split costs for transaction fees and a card for gas to get them to Branson.

I was able to get a confirmed last call reservation for a 1 bedroom in Stonebridge Village for May 22-29. But then, I realized that I didn't see anything for a guest certificate. Was there supposed to be one? Do I need to do something else to make sure that they are able to stay in their room once they get down there? I really want to make this work for them...

Thank you

Guest Certs are paid separately. If you don't see where you can do it online under your confirmed reservations, you can always call up and have it added. I believe the current cost is $59.

So it should not be a problem for me to add that then? I was hoping to present it to them tonight.

It's easy...look in your RCI account for the reservation. Click add guest certificate, enter contact info for parents, pay fee, print certificate. Nice gift!

For future reference - in one of the transaction steps, the ask if you want to purchase a GC.

That's awesome!

Great job! I've done guest certificates for my folks several times. Isn't it fun to be able to give them something you know they will enjoy...rather than another tie or bottle of perfume?

AND something they have always wanted, but have been unable, to do. They never even had a Honeymoon; Dad had to go back to work right away.

To me, this is the best part of timesharing - being able to share with those who would not or could not otherwise venture out. A few years ago I took my SIL to the beach as she had never been to a beach.

Be sure they know they Are Not Obligated to attend a sales presentation, no matter what anyone at the resort says, and it's ok to unplug phone in the unit if they are pestered.

Good job on treating your parents. I hope they have a fantastic time, a honeymoon worth waiting for.

Thank you! And thanks for the bit about unplugging the phone..... I wouldn't have thought of that!

Since they are inexperienced with timeshares, and perhaps inexperienced with traveling, you parents will be prime candidates to be the victims of a sales presentation - you need to really emphasize to them that they are NOT obligated to go to any meetings, no matter what they are told, and that they should decline, no matter what incentives are offered.

Otherwise, they will come home with a new full price and financed timeshare....

I will make sure that I emphasize that with them. I have been telling everyone in my family to not buy anything until they at least talk to me. My brother and his wife have gone to the Dominican twice and have almost bought down there. I keep telling him to buy resale!!! So far, they have avoided the purchase...... I keep preaching to learn from my mistake!

I believe Stonebridge is associated with Festiva these days. They should just not go to a sales meeting no matter what the incentive to attend.

We were in Branson last October, there are timeshare sales people in the oddest places. We saw them in the grocery store, the wax Muesuem and at places where they sell show tickets. The Best place to buy show tickets at the Purple Building, they sell 2 for 1 tickets to most shows and don't sell timeshares in there! PM me if you want more info on Branson! We enjoyed Branson so much!

great info! Thank you Everyone! I will definitely take you all up on that offer. Unfortunately, I had to cancel their reservation for now. The gentleman my dad works with received second degree burns on his arms, hands and face due to some type of farming accident. He is unable to work until further notice, so Dad needs to cover until Paul is able to go back. My parents will be going, but it will have to be postponed for a bit.
