It keeps saying my text is to short?

Here are some questions you can answer to focus your timeshare wants/needs.

If you click on QUOTE at the end of my post, the questions will open up in a new window for you to answer:

1) Where do you want your home resort to be?
California or close to in case plane tickets are too high

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time? Maybe 50% home, hard to say that is why buying close makes more sense.

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?

Mexico, Hawaii, Hilton Head SC, Vegas, Tahoe

4) How many people do you usually travel with? Four, two adults two 12 year olds, sometimes parents.

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule? School schedule

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance? Yes always

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time? 4-5 days is better

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?
four stars

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing? $5,000

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year? $500-$1,200

11) Are you a detail oriented planner? Yes

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do? Yes, that is a bit scary but we do like to vacation.

When you type inside the quote - the system sees it as part of the quote, but since you added the sentence at the top, it's now long enough to post. (The system is set up not to post one word responses - it takes 10 characters or so.)

Most traditional timeshares are set up to work best when you reserve 7 night intervals. For shorter stays, you want a point system that doesn't penalize you for booking a shorter stay - check out Wyndham and Worldmark.

That being said, it's not cost effective to go to fly-to destinations for 4-5 days: Mexico, Hawaii, Hilton Head SC. With airfare so high, it makes more sense to spend at least 7 nights, if not more. Otherwise, you lose 2 days with travel, and end up spending a lot of money for a 3 or 4 day vacation - not worth it.

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?
four stars

For 4 Star accommodations, $500 is unrealistic - especially if you need a 2 bdm. sometimes. Something that meets your needs will probably be closer to $1,000, than $500.

I agree with Denise. Crazy to travel by air for less than 7 nights. Heck- even for drive to's- unless they are about maybe 3 or 4 hours drive at most- it wouldn't be worth it either! (Although- I am doing that for a rental this XMAS only because my brother's family wanted it that way and I haven't seen them in 4 years, so I compromised)

Definitely look at worldmark. Lots of work and patience to get those 4 star resorts, but would be good for you in Cali on a budget. IMHO
