Need BDL airport shuttle info or advice.

I need to drop off a rental car the night before my 5am flight as Alamo rental BDL is not open in the wee hours of the morning.
The plan is to drop the rental car off the night before and stay in a hotel at the airport close by. The only ones I find are at least a mile or more away. I am not sure if the hotel shuttle operates early morning or even if the rental place will have a shuttle to the hotel at night.
Anyone know about Hartford's BDL airport shuttles or have any suggestions?

You might want to check with the car rental agency to see if they have an after hours drop off. Many locations do. They either have something set up with a local business, or a drop slot for the keys.

Ooops, just realized this probably wouldn't work for you as the shuttle from the car rental to the airport wouldn't be operating yet. Maybe a cab? I'm trying to think of ways to eliminate the need of a hotel room rental for the night.

Thanks Luanne, I appreciate your reply. I would love to eliminate the need of a hotel room rental for just those 4 hours but it may be the only way. The car rental company does not accept rental drop offs when they are closed, about 1am to 4am.
I called the car rental for peace of mind - they said that their shuttle will, if not too busy going to the airport, take me to the hotel. Another possibility is that the hotel shuttle may pick me up, I haven't inquired about that though. At worst I can call a cab.
The hotel has shuttle to the airport starting at 3:45am which should work out.

Hartford BDL isn't a very large airport.

If the earliest departure is 5:00 am, maybe the 4:00 am opening of the car rental agencies is sufficient for their customers to catch the first flight?

There is a Sheraton Hotel right in the airport terminal at BDL. I have stayed there. It is nice and very convenient. Why not use it?
