Thanks for the update. We just arrived at WKV yesterday, and I am planning to drive over to SDO at some point this week to check out the models. It's good to know they are actually ready for viewing. Did you have to go through a whole spiel to see them? I'm not sure want to invest that much time.

We stayed at SBP when they were going through the remodel and they just gave us the key to the model unit for us to see without having to sit through anything since we own there as I see you do at SDO. Hopefully you will get the same at SDO.

You just need to get the key at the reception desk. No update needed. The units are much more spacious with smaller sized furniture and better use of space. The bathroom is larger and the smaller unit has a king bed. We were very pleased!
I think they just have foreclosed property. I do not plan to go to the sales pitch this year. Last year they wanted us to upgrade to a platinum unit and join SVN. But we are happy with our resale units which were almost free. We use most of our weeks at the property. It is anice small resort in a great location (much of the year)!
I'm holding my breath for a foreclosure sale similair to SMV just had, that would be great.
Not sure... I previewed the model units when I was there a few weeks back. Honestly wasn't too impressed. I didn't see much value (improvements) for such an expensive remodel.
But it is possible the room we were given (for the week at SDO) was in much better shape than the average SDO room.
I know one thing for certain, no way does Starwood do this remodel if they had to pay for it. Cause I have been in sheraton (even westin) hotels, that are in MUCH greats need of a renovation.
But since they have others footing the bill, why not!

That's not going to happen - The SDO BOD has already handed over all the foreclosures to Starwood to sell at full-sticker - for Starwood. Apparently the board at SMV is able to think and act independently. At SDO - they simply rubber stamp Starwood's recommendations. Per the former board president - the board wouldn't even look at any other options.

It looks great! - I just hope Starwood keeps their word and reduces the MF after renovations are complete.
