Are you familiar with the Escapes or Silver Leaf brands? Checkout the Tug timeshare map at http://tug2.com/tsmaps/TimeshareMaps.html for the location of these resorts near Houston.

Thanks. Escapes or Silverleaf is more of getaway locations. DW is city gal and wanna see some busy streets. Also, we will be 2,500 miles away from home and it is really no need of further 'getaway'

What's the ongoing rate of rental for Hyatt Regency Houston? Is it preferred daily or weekly rental?

Unless it is a business trip, you should get a hotel near the Galleria (shopping mall) rather than downtown. Many hotels in that area are within walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. Also, many hotels in the area offer complimentary shuttle service within a 1-2 mile radius.

thanks, it is definitely what DW is looking for. Is any hotel/resort available to rent from fellow tugger? The westins sound good, but I have no clue of Starwood system and dont know if I can afford it.

There was at one time a tugger that had a condo in town that he would rent out. He is an attorney in Houston - I will see if I still have his email and pm it to you

There are no Starwood timeshares in Texas - you would have to go with a hotel.

The hotel system, and timeshare system are completely different entities.

Having spent extended stays in

Greenspointe IAH SR8/45

Allen Center 10/45

Galleria 610W/10

Memorial City SR8/10W

Austin

And Visited Galveston, South Padre Island and Corpus Christi

My vote for Houston would be Galleria

I do like Keemah though

Thanks, all...just realized my time frame overlaps with NBA all-star, I will be happy to find a roof to live under within my budget...Hopefully, I can find a week around Corpus Christi before or after stay in Houston.

That's a newly built Hotel Area, I have only spent a couple of nights there on two different occasions

Unless you are there for Baseball, Basketball or the convention center, not much going on in that "redevelopment" zone

The rack rate is up big across the board and high end or convenient locations have been fully booked.

corpus

You don't want to stay IN Corpus Christi. You want to stay across the bay on Mustang Island/Port Aransas-sometimes called North Padre Island. There are several nice timeshares on the island and some nice rental units.
