I just became a Hgvc member and I know I automatically become an Honors silver member. But was is the Acct number? Do I go somewhere to apply? I'm asking because work is making me travel quite a bit for the remainder of the year... So I picked up an Honors American express. They asked if I had an honors account and I said no. Was that a mistake?

Anyway, I'm trying to get my logistics together. I expect to be away for several weeks in short 3 day stays and thought this would be a great opportunity to get points.

Advice?

Apply for a HHonors account, and then call both Amex and HGVC to link to that account number. That would be the easiest way, IMO.

When you become a HGVC member, HGVC sends you a welcome kit with your HGVC account #.
... If you don't have it yet, you can call HGVC to get the # to set up online access.
At the same time, HGVC also automatically enrolls you in HHonors, so you will also receive
a HHonors welcome kit with their account number. This is will be your silver-tier account.

So I picked up an Honors American Express. They asked if I had an Honors account and I said no.

Am-Ex may obtain a HHonors account for you, so that now, you could have 2 HHonors accounts:
-- a base-level account linked to the Am-Ex, and a silver-level account linked only to HGVC.
Some phone calls to Am-Ex and HHonors may be in your future to consolidate the accounts.

Talent312 is correct once again.

I strongly suggest you visit the HHonors and Hilton Family websites and become familiar with them. Once you link your HHonors AmEX with your HHonors number, you will be able to see how quickly the points accumulate. Furthermore, you get 500 bonus points just for booking your reservation online via the website and using the HHonors AmEx to make the reservation.

Talent 312 is correct. You already have 2 account #'s now. (1 through A-mex and 1 through HGVC). You don't want to apply for another. Just call HHonors C/S and explain your situation and they will link your 2 existing accounts and tell you which number to use.
