I just tried to relinquish my Diamond Resort Timeshare (Mystic Dunes in Kissimmee, FL) and they refused. Donation seems to be my only route.

Before you pay big bucks to a quasi-charity that is really a for-profit, please consider giving your timeshare away to someone who would like to own it - at no cost to you:

first time we have heard of DRI refusing a voluntary surrender...what was their reasoning behind it?

do you still owe on the loan?

also note, donation is an utterly terrible idea for an owner...charities do not want your worthless timeshare unfortunately...but companies would certainly love you to pay them thousands of dollars for them to sell it for you under the guise of a donation.

We had a few people at the beginning of the deedack thread say that DRI wouldn't take back their TS BUT we never found out why. (Our poll on the deed back thread said over 94% of DRI TS owners who tried had their TS taken back)

BUT here are some reasons why
-If you own on a loan DRI will not take back
- if in your email you don't give a reason why you need them to take back the TS (finances, health, age ect)
- If you do not send your email to the right people at DRI lossmitigation@diamondresorts.com

Are any of these things true in your case?
