I have a reservation for STT in December this year. It was an exchange from a deposit I did the previous year. The advice I got on here was STT is not a good place for little ones (age 6 and 11 months) because we like to walk around the resort (realized this part after being at MKO in July) and STT is hilly and also because my son is immuno-compromised and with the Caribbean virus going around.

We still want to go somewhere this Dec and I have no idea where to go (its my 40th). Any suggestions that would be warm and fun for the kids? I pictured my 40th to be spent in a nice warm Caribbean sea (never been) but it might not be in the cards. Would Aruba be nice with kids? I don't really want to go to Disneyworld. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am at a loss especially given this last minute revelation. We are coming from the west coast. No MKO as we go next year.

Also, can I still re-deposit it without a fee or penalty? the original deposit says I have to use it by Feb 2015. I value all your opinions as we tend to stick to the same (MKO)

Hawaii, or Southern CA are a whole lot closer than the Caribbean, or Mexico, but I wouldn't take an immuno-compromised child to Mexico either.

AZ or TX ... do a cowboy or cowgirl theme trip. Lots of nice pools and mostly flat. And warm in Dec.

What about Palm Desert? The Marriotts there have large properties with lots of activities. You can go up the tram in Palm Springs for a total different climate one of the days. Lots of fun outdoor nature places.

You could also try Marriott's Newport Coast Villas. Crystal Cove beach is right down the street and has tidepools and gorgeous beaches. The water will be too cold to swim, but you'll also be a close drive to other places like Disneyland, whale watching, etc.

Booking anything for late December at this late date will be a challenge, but the first 2 weeks might be doable. Aruba is much more walking-friendly that STT and lots of kids activities. I vote for Aruba, but that is the Caribbean also. Try Aruba Surf Club. The Lazy River is so much fun.

Other than Marriott Vacation Club in Phoenix, what else in AZ/TX are "Marriott Vacation Club" caliber TS properties in those states to visit during Christmas/New Year period....?

Try Hyatt Pinon Point in Sedona and Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio.

Aruba is wonderful for children. There are many activities and there are many restaurants that you can walk to from either the OC or the SC. There is also the butterfly farm, phillips exotic animal gardens etc. I vote for Aruba.
