I have a flight out of JFK arriving in Vegas at about 10:00pm with a layover until 1:45am.

Being on East Coast time I want to catch a nap. Are there any local or in airport hotels, or honeycomb type sleeping capsules where Mrs and I can cuddle up and sleep?

There is no hotel at the airport, and I wouldn't think it is enough time to go elsewhere. If you are not in Terminal 3, you might want to take the tram there, it is quieter.

Or look for passes to an open Airline Lounge, if there is one that time of night.

Not that I have anything to add here, except this MAY be the worst layover I've EVER heard of! My sympathy to the travelers.

I agree with the others that you don't have time to go anywhere. American Express does have a new 'luxury' lounge that they have recently opened at McCarran which I think is the first of its type in the US. I am a platinum cardholder, and they still wanted to charge me (maybe $75?), but I think they may have a place for you to take a nap, shower etc. Since there isn't a hotel on-site, it may be worth your while as you would still be on-site.

Better plan to do your sleeping on the airplane. The Las Vegas airport is pretty busy, even during the wee hours of the morning. Remember, Las Vegas has the reputation of being a 24-hour city.

I fly standby on SWA quite often and I try to plan my trips to go through Vegas. I love layovers in Vegas and that much time would go fast for me. They have a few pubs that are actually good and I always win at least a couple hundred dollars on the slot machines. I will play nickels and quarters and I dont have time to give it back. I always have a minimum of 2 books for each trip. I can read a book during a day of flying.

I would sleep or read on the plane.
