Is there a difference? In some threads the platinum units are listed as
1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100
but the 3000 range is not listed in the poll that is a sticky.

Are the units in the 3000 range not platinum plus? only platinum? The one I bought was assigned 148000 SOs when it was sold originally.
Thank you.

There is only platinum plus or gold plus at SDO AFAIK. Nothing in between. So if you have 148,100 SOs assigned, it is plat plus.

As to the unit #s, I'd go by the sticky. That has proven accurate in the past.

Thanks for your reply. So the unit had 148K assigned to it (not to me, but to the prior owner who bought direct) so that makes it Platinum plus but it is not listed as a Platinum in the sticky (it is unit 306867) and only these units are listed as Platinum in the sticky:

The unit on your deed must be.
1064 1072 1081-1100 2064-2072

So I am still confused which is correct? I just want to list it correctly when I sell since from what I am reading, I seem to have arrived late to the trading game...

The info in the sticky about SDO in the starwood owners resources is correct not the one in the poll.

To be a true Platinum week at Sheraton Desert Oasis the unit number must be in this range-

1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100

AND

the deeded week must be in this range: 1-21, 50-52

Your deed falls within those units.

The sticky that you refer to is just the poll. I don't think it is meant to be the go to place for info about platinum units. Just something informal to see how many of the platinum units that are out there are already taken by TUG members. The Starwood resource page is a much better place to look for info than member polls.

Ooopppsss - I didn't notice that I wrote "plus" in the title of the poll thread, and I just corrected it. It is worded correctly in the poll itself.

The OP is concerned because this is the quote from the first message in the thread.

Lets set up a poll and ask...

The unit on your deed must be.
1064 1072 1081-1100 2064-2072

The week must be
1-21 50-52

OK, so looking around it seems the poll functionality has been disabled in this form

It has different unit ranges than the owner resource sticky info:
1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100
AND
the deeded week must be in this range: 1-21, 50-52

OK - But that is just a casual comment by a poster, not part of the "published," info. at the top of the forum. I will add a foot note.

Hi Optimist, I sent you a private message regarding your mention of selling your Platinum SDO. Curious though about what you meant about being late to the trading game? I have had great luck trading my SDO 1-52 float. Thanks.

So - I was considering picking up an SDO fixed week that falls into the "platinum" assigned weeks, but it's not in the "platinum" range of unit numbers being discussed here. For II trading purposes, what is it then? Gold plus?

If it floats 1-52, yes.

No its fixed.

SDO doesn't have any fixed weeks - they all float. The week on the deed is just for recording purposes.

Plat Plus: 1-21, 50-[52] (+ specific unit designations)

Gold Plus: 1-52

Gold: 22-27, 36-49

Silver: 28-35

Well - there you go. It's a(nother) case of the seller not knowing what they are selling.

I love TUG. Thanks for all the info.

There is no disadvantage (except the price) and two advantages:

1. If you ever decide to requalify it, it comes with 148100 StarOptions rather than 81000 (for a two bedroom).

2. It is theoretically a stronger trader because Starwood must deposit a unit in high season rather than depositing a summer week which it can do with a 1-52 unit. I am not persuaded that this trading differential will make a difference more than 1-2% of the time.

The downside is the price; the price differential varies and you can minimize it by careful shopping. Many sellers are clueless about the difference.

There is actually a disadvantage in addition to price. You are limited to booking at SDO in the 1-21 & 51-52 week ranges. The Gold Plus weeks can be booked in any weeks of the year. Earlier this year, I was trying to book a week in November, but I couldn't with my platinum ownership. I had to deposit with II and then trade for the week I wanted.

Thanks to both of you, I'm thinking I might go with a gold plus so I have more options
