TPU is not fixed - RCI adjusts it all the time.

It appears that the South Carolina beach area in general took a bad TPU hit (it probably has to do with flight prices becoming more reasonable in the past year or so - less travelers averse to flying destinations). This goes in cycles - obviously after an event like September 11th, driving destinations were highly inflated and stayed that way for a long time.

All things considered, I own here and I'm not overly concerned as even if trading power continues to drop, I feel that I can always rent my 3BR summer week to cover my maintenance fees (and probably make a small profit too). While this resort is not on the beach, it does have shuttle service to and from the beach and very nice grounds with a lazy river pool - there are not many 3BR timeshares in Myrtle to begin with and still fewer with the amenities Plantation Villas have. This is a large resort, and RCI is going to want to continue to get those summer deposits from a transactional perspective (lots of potential exchange fees to be lost if owners start deciding to rent those 3BR summer weeks instead).

Still a good Mf to TPU ratio and the added bonus of being outside the Orlando area for DVC exchanges in RCI.

There are also some last minute cash deals for owners when there is vacancy. Lots to still love about owning here!!!

How do you find out about this? I wish this resort offered a formal last minute bonus time program.

When we bought our week last year, it came with free usage. We inquired about reserving an extra unit for a big family trip but the "discount" price was only 20% off retail for the week we wanted in August. It was significantly more expensive than most Redweek listings at the top beachfront resorts in Myrtle. Not much of a deal at all.

I inquired about it when I called about the annual meeting. I didn't want to book a full week and the price for the 4 days was lower that anything else I found online. It could have been because it was not very busy/low season. I didn't end up going anyways.

Ah okay - makes more sense that it was off season. Usually off season the RCI extra vacations are so inexpensive that I always figured it's still cheaper to book the whole week. Where RCI can't usually deliver is on the summer weeks in large units - even the shoulder weeks (unless you fork out a lot of TPUs and even then it's still difficult to get a 3BR). That's where a bonus time program would be great for owners at this particular resort.

I noticed the same thing when I looked to deposit my 2016 summer week and was bummed out about the drop. I noticed that TPUs dropped last year, but dropped even more for 2016. I don't understand it either. It still gets high ratings with RCI.
I am going to wait a couple of months and hope it goes up a little.
