Fixed week 34 at Waterside by Spinnaker resort in Hilton Head Island.
2BR/2BA unit and maintenance fee is paid only on use year, and 2015 fee was $730.
This resort requires prepay maintenance fee of $750 which will apply to future (next use year's) maintenance fee.
Buyer simply pays $750 pre-payment of (coming) maintenance fee, I (seller) will pay for closing cost.
I used this week for SFX exchange company, usually got 2 bonus weeks which I used to stay in San Francisco area or in Mexico, and also got vacation cash offer.
Buyer's first usage starts on 2017.

I'm confused. If MFs are required to be prepaid the year before use, wouldn't that mean that the MFs need to be paid in even years if the resort is used in odd years? If that is correct, wouldn't the next MFs be due in 2016 for 2017 UY? Thanks for helping me to understand.

$750 future MF should be paid at time of transfer. It will be applied to next use year's MF.
Thanks.

Spinnaker Resorts requires MFs to be prepaid in order to transfer ownership. They are afraid of ownerships being transferred to fraudulent timeshare disposal companies that never pay the MFs. (Such companies are known here on TUG as "Viking ships.")

If there was no transfer of ownership, then the MFs for 2017 wouldn't need to be paid until late 2016 or early 2017 (not sure of the exact date.)
