We are headed to Hawaii in a few months and I am now trying to finalize travel plans.

I booked 3 seats using miles several months ago but wasn't sure about the other 2 members (DD's) of my family as their college intents were not yet known. Now that I know that my 2 DD's will be going with us I need to book their flights. Well, I checked online and can get true First Class seats for all 4 legs of the trip for only a few hundred dollars more than the coach price.

Question is: If I book 2 seats for my DD's in First Class, can their mother and I sit in their First Class seats while they sit in our Coach seats?

Generally yes, though you'd want to tell (maybe even ask) the flight attendent of your plans. That way they don't wonder why strangers are in their section.

Yes, you can. You can even switch once, like halfway through the flight, but I don't know why you would want to to Hawaii. We had 3 BC, and 2 coach to Japan and switched halfway through to sleep.

Flights are Houston to San Fran to Hawaii.
I don't want to switch halfway through. I want DW and I to stay in First the entire trip. :)

The point is that you can only switch once, you can't move back an forth, and you do have to tell the stewards. And I'm with you, I wouldn't want to leave first class! We did it because Japan was a 14 hour flight. On the way there, my daughter was very sick, so we let her stay the entire time, and the rest of us switched. On the way back, hubby stayed the entire time.
