Traded in Renaissance in Aruba using my Marriott Timeshare. Any information

Don't know about the platinum benefits but we've stayed there several times. Prior to the Destinations Program we used reward points nights there to add 1-3 days to our stay in Aruba. We stayed in the Oceanside Rooms and had a "one bedroom" each time. The rooms are much smaller than the Surf Club or Ocean Club but you're not in them that much and its works. Also there is a private island that we love and miss because now with the destinations program we always stay at the Surf Club the entire time - easier than moving locations. You're in Orangestad so you can walk to many stores and restaurants. Aruba was really trying to fix up the area when we were there last July. Enjoy!

I think you earn elite night credit and points on dollar spend on incidentals. Just make sure they add your Marriott Rewards number at checkin. Other than that I don't think there are any benefits. It isn't a MVCI property and is managed for reservation purposes by Marriott International.

I stayed there for a night in January and received free wifi for my Marriott Rewards status (i think gold elite). Loved the Dutch pancake restaurant in the mall next to the Ocean Suites. They had an outdoor Zumba class Sat morning that looked like a lot of fun. I love the private island but my 6 year old made so many friends at the pool we didn't make it to the island the second day. The 1 bedroom was ok, not much to rave about but the other pluses made it worthwhile. Will be back.

We're here sitting in the lobby right now. They are working on the 5th floor of the right side wing. No owner's meeting this week because of Easter Monday, but was told by Liliana that they are running about 2 weeks behind on that floor because of furniture delays. As always, great place. Read my review from last year in the Marketplace for details on the resort. You do get credit for the weeks stays, but I'm just a regular Marriott Rewards member, so can't comment on the Platinum perks.

If you are going during the winter season, you might want to make reservations at some of the local restaurants before you leave. We did, thinking it was gonna be busy since it was Easter weekend, but to our surprise, it's not that busy. Hit a few new restaurants and some old favorites, and will post a review once we get back.

I would like to add that for the first time in 6 exchanges, we got some grief adding our Plat number on arrival. In fact, we did add it. When the Plat arrival gift wasn't delivered, we inquired. We were then told that II exchanges no longer get plat benefits. I pushed back a bit and got them. The MGR told me that since this wasn't an owner week, it was an exchange, I should get them.
