Hi,
We own two weeks at SVV. One week is worth 67,100 star options and the other is worth 81,000. I actually have two questions:

1. Since we bought through the developer are we able to combine the staroptions to stay at a resort that requires 148,000? I was thinking of trying to get a 2 bedroom in Hawaii next year and would need that many staroptions.

2. Using the week that has 67,100 staroptions would I be able to deposit the week with II, and possibly get an exchange for a time period that would require 81,000 staroptions? In other words exchange for a week out of my season?
Thank you, Sue

That rule changed about a year ago, both developer and resale mandatory owners can combine Staroptions now, so yes you can.

Staroptions themselves do not transfer to II and have no bearing on your II trade - you will be depositing an actual week that you own, Starwood will assign it a trade value, and you will be trading with that.

It's even possible to deposit a week worth NO Staroptions and trade into a week worth 148,100 Staroptions. (I did it recently - traded SVR/no Staroptions for a 2 bdm. at WPORV.)

However, remember that Starwood controls ALL the deposits to II now, and they don't deposit high season and holiday weeks, so it's nearly impossible to get high season or holidays through II.

You can post a "Sightings Request" on the Sightings and Distress Board for the week/unit you want and other owners can tell you what they can see available, now.

Denise,
Thank you very much for your reply. Is March considered a difficult time of the year to trade into Orando? I would want to trade into my home resort. I'm thinking of March 2011, not this year.

Thanks, Sue

I believe there's a regional block for Orlando, so you won't see Orlando units with an Orlando deposit.

Someone else can confirm.

If this is the case, you'll have to use StarOptions to do the trade.

It may be moot if there's an Orlando block, but I was on the II website anyway...

My SMV small 1-bed pulls 15 resorts in Orlando in March. However, nearly all available dates are early March. Makes sense, since late March is Spring Break Season. Of note, I pull 2 bedrooms at Marriott, SVR, and a few others. I see only 1-beds at SVV.

Remember that II will let you use a 2 bdm. deposit to exchange into a studio + a 1 bdm., or 1 bdm. + 1bdm., if available, and you just have to pay 2 exchange fees.

I never knew that. Do the two one bedrooms have to be the same week or could they be consecutive weeks?

I don't know. The general idea is that you can book a 1 bdm. + a studio and put them together to make a 2 bdm.
