Does anyone recall the link to the SVO website for resales and rentals by owners for SDO and some other SVO resorts? I saw it here last year, but I can't find the link now. Thanks!:)

They probably ran out of webspace due to all the listings! :D

Here's their website for SVR, Vistana Beach Club, Villas of Cave Creek, and Sheraton Desert Oasis. I don't know if they offer assistance with selling any of the other resorts.

Resales Mart

jerseygirl,

Thanks for your post. I find it interesting that ResalesMart is actually Starwood. There are only four resorts included:

Sheraton's Vistana Resort
Vistana's Beach Club
Villas of Cave Creek
Sheraton Desert Oasis

I wonder if this is something that was provided for in the old Vistana organization? There are other voluntary resorts like Lakeside Terrace that are not included.

After seeing the website, I thought this was some kind of joke. I did a whois, just to confirm if this really is owned by Starwood:
http://whois.domaintools.com/resalesmart.com

The listing prices aren't even close to what the units will now actually sell for. Starwood, I truly hope you will step up to the plate here. Please live up to the original promise of your brand name. Please really try harder to help these poor owners out. Starwood, did you really take another $50 from these owners to help them sell, right? This website looks pathetic. I'd love for Starwood to be prove me wrong here. I'd jump for joy to sell one of my Sheraton Desert Oasis EOY 2bd for 75% off the lowest $6,800 asking price on this website. Others at my home resort are 'resorting' to practically giving away their deeds for nothing, just to get out from under it all.

Starwood, please take a look from an owner's perspective. Please listen to all our complaints about the new trading system. Please listen to all our complaints about the lack of transparency, communication and full disclosure. Please listen to our complaints about ever rising MF and worries over delinquencies. We need Starwood to take corrective action to restore the resale value of the Starwood brand. This is important for everyone involved. If I wanted to buy Westgate, I would have. I never expected this owner treatment coming from Starwood. There are simple steps Starwood can take to compromise here and make us happy owners again.

Some HOA's had approached SVO to provide them with an outlet to sell their timeshares and the website that you are looking at is basically their response. Like most resale sites, the pricing is determined by the Seller's themselves.

Yes, some HOA's are getting in a real pickle with owner delinquencies. Yes, whether we like it or not, we (paying owners) are all now in the timeshare resale business. At Sheraton Desert Oasis, Starwood owns the main lobby building/upstairs sales center. On behalf of all owners, the HOA represents our ownership interests in the villa buildings (think wall posters and doorknob ads). And, the public owns the sidewalk out front (think pamphlets and picketing). See, right now our interests are colliding. That makes a bad resale market worse for everyone.

It would be best for Starwood to work in good faith with owners to resolve our legitimate complaints. That will restore value to what we own. Ultimately, everyone involved has too many timeshares to sell under the current circumstances, be they new, resale, foreclosed or distressed. Happy owners will increase the available market through word of mouth. They may even buy more. That will improve the situation for everyone. That is much better than what is going on right now - :wall:

This site has been there for years but it is not easy to find. It was created around 2000 before things got as sticky as they are today.

I wonder if all the listing prices are from 2000 too? Perhaps that website is just a tribute and/or living museum fulfilling nostalgic needs for those who long so desperately for the uninformed innocence and resale market value of yesteryear.

Possibly. I question whether or not many of them are still actually for sale.
