Staying at Massanutten (Mountain Side) in 3 weeks and trying to plan our activities. We are a party of 16 (8 adults and 8 kids aged 2 to 10). We want to visit DC but the tour from the resort is too expensive for our large group and will not work out with young kids.

We are planning to drive to DC and take a hop-on-hop-off tour (Gray Line or Old Town Trolley). Tour tickets can be purchased @ the Union Station booth/stop. Anyone has a good idea of parking availability @ the Union Station? We will arrive there around 11AM on a week day. Does the Union Station parking garage usually have some availability at this time or do we need to look at other options for parking?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Should not be a problem finding parking. It is a rather large garage and there is ample parking for both train passengers and for shoppers to the mall stores inside. I have never had a problem.

Also working in your favor starting this Friday, the Senate will join the House in recess, so for all practical purposes Capitol Hill will be shut down till Labor Day and the town will not be overun with lobbyist and business travelers.
