I am hoping someone might be able to help me. I am currently a member at PV and would like to buy more points, currently only own 3840. I am trying to figure out if I buy more points on the secondary market will my membership in total be converted to "acquired" status or just the new points? Conversely could the other happen, that I will never have "acquired" status because I am already a member. Or are they able to track which points are which somehow? We are at the resort now and am trying to get answers to other questions but I really do not want to pay full price here if I can get for a fraction of the cost on the secondary market.
Thanks so much for the help.
Liz

I don't know the answer to the "acquired" status, but, most certainly buying more points from the developer is the wrong answer (99.999999%) of the time.

Thanks so much for the response. I have been following the boards for a little while and so I am pretty much in agreement that only buy re-sale, I just wanted to understand if that changes my status or if anyone knew that answer.
Thanks
Liz

I have both. From developer and private. They will not combine the two into one and must be used separately. Also resale doesn't always give you full membership discounts.

We use to own three seperate point packages. In 2008 we were flagged as secondary market purchasers. We were greeted with "Welcome Home" and when we sat down and received our arrival drinks we were told since we purchased on the secondary market we would not be allowed access to the spa, workout, computer area, etc.

We wondered what had happened because we had been going there annually since 1999. We called the California office and they said it was an oversite on the part of the onsite management and further training of staff should ensure that we would receive the member benefits.

Fast forward to 2009. We went hopeful that things would return to normal. No such luck. We have since sold all packages. We sold two to a member and PV required a credit report before approving the sale. They also required an "informal" sales contract that stated the sales price.

I know there are some who feel this is a great resort. My point is it all depends on your reference point. Good luck.
