We just scored a flexchange trade into the Royal Islander at the end of June. Can anyone tell me if there's a gym there? If so, is there a charge? Trying to figure out whether or not to pack my gym clothes or not.

I appreciate all the other info I've found so far. Originally, we had reservations at the Westin Lagunamar in a studio. However, that reservation was cancelled as the resort is not opening on time. Starwood did provide us with accommodations at the Westin Cancun hotel, as we'd already bought airfare, etc. However, I was able to cancel that, and grab the 2 bedroom Royal Islander unit when I saw it.

Thanks!

We just returned from the Royal Mayan and I think the gym is in the Royal Caribbean and it was something like $8/day for $25 for the week. I'm sure one of the TUGgers who owns there or goes frequently could give you better information, but bottom line is you are looking to workout is that there is a gym and it will cost you a few bucks.

Jeni's info sounds right. The Royal Caribbean is connected by a walkway to the Royal Islander.

Also, the activities staff runs daily sessions each morning in aerobics, yoga, and aqua aerobics - fun and no charge. Just pick up an activities schedule at the front desk when you check in.

If you're into tennis or bicycling, tennis rackets and bikes can be checked out at n/c, and there's also pool and beach volleyball. There are lots of options besides machines!

Be sure to go to the Sunday AM orientation session - you'll get lots of info and answers.

Yup, right in the RC - there is a 'fancy' one over at RS but not worth it in terms of deal with the bus scheduling.

love those free water aerobics

Agree- not worth the bus ride, and I believe the "fancy" one at RS is more expensive...$50 for the week or $12 per day/

The one at the Sands is more expensive because you are allowed to use the Spa wet room with the fee. It is a VERY relaxing way to end your work out! I love that Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi! :)

Believe me, the Aqua Aerobics, if you really participate, is a work out.

And if you follow the activities staff around in the morning, you can keep moving for at least 3 hours. :cheer:

Not that I do much in the morning....but it's fun to watch.:p
