Just wondering how you know if a date is overbooked and you don't really have a reservations. Do they let you know ahead of time or do you get there and they let you know upon arrival that they do not have a room for you?

In my experience, have a copy of your confirmed reservation with you, after some huffing and puffing, they find you your room, most of the time. If not, then oh well. The most recent time, Wyndham Corporate would not make them give me the room but said to call after the reservation was complete and they would refund the points. For what it is worth, they did that.

I had one experience (hotel not timeshare) at a Westin when they were overbooked. I tried and tried but no luck. They refunded me my money and made me a reservation at another nearby hotel.

How many people have gone to a Wyndham with a confirmed reservation and not had a room due to overbooking? I sure hope this isn't happening.

I doubt the VOI Trust overbooks deliberately. Your reservation is fully paid for so, no "money" is lost like a hotel.

I did have an experience where there was pipe burst about a week before check in and booking was red hot week and resort full. They rebooked around 15 of us at nicer resort. It was unclear how they determined which people they choose to rebook.

Anyway, I did not want to be changed and no problem finding someone else who preferred the upgrade!

I have seen posts on "stolen" reservations, overlapping reservations, mix ups, etc.

I own at several resorts in the South Florida "beachy" areas.

One assignment supervisor has called me on occasion to see if I had anything opened for an overlap checkin day to as long as a week stay for one of their OVERBOOKED timeframe. I figure it ALWAYS works out for me to release something as "trade". And I have been told stories as to HOW bad some of those check in days get to be --- including guests being "walked" to a hotel (and the costs for the room paid for by the HOA).

Yes, a damaged section or a slow remodel of a group of units, does HAVE Wyndham corporate LOOKING HARD to cancel reservations to solve an occupancy issue - during Prime booking times. I know 2 of the Pompano resorts have had this happen in just the last 2 years. Not done because of OVERBOOKING, but due to "stuff happens".

And no, PRIME season is not when remodeling should be planned - as those are the weeks the owners truly want to use and the resorts PLAN to be at 100% occupancy. But broken pipes do happen; bedbugs do happen; materials or contractors issues happen; hurricanes do happen.

Yes, if memory serves, I could not find them because of the age of threads, but I believe there were one or two by vacationhopeful from days gone by. Believe they had to do with a Fl resort. Think it was a fixed week, if I am correct, then it would not be a Wyndham Club Plus issue. I think it was a Extra Holidays issue.

Had 1 BR Deluxe one time for my Anniversary. I had reserved months in advance. They were overbooked and only had a regular 1 BR w/o the hot tub for us. We complained enough, they sent us a fruit basket and gave us a credit for the points difference, but we never got a different room.

Today I offered to give two rooms back at an overbooked resort but no one at the front desk was interested. Never tried reservations but they never have been interested as its not their problem.

When we were at panama city they said they have 2 ghost rooms that can't be booked just for maintenance issues and overbooking situations. Not sure if other resorts have this as well but I would think they would.
