We are planners. Our trips for this year are booked and now we are looking at next year.
We are looking at South Carolina resorts in September and have some questions.

Weather history looks like the temps in mid September is 82. What is the air and water temps like at this time of year?

Looking at Edisto Beach it does not sound like they are on the ocean front?

Ocean Blvd looks like it is on the ocean?
Tower 2 has 1 bedroom lower and upper ocean view. I assume the upper is a better view? Do the lower units still have an OK view?

Towers on the Grove has 1 bedroom ocean view and front. I assume the ocean front has a direct ocean/beach view on the balcony? Also assume the ocean view is a side view of the beach ocean?

Both Seawatch Plantation and Westwinds appear to be on the beach and ocean?
Neither have ocean front/view listed. So are all the units ocean front?

So what would you folks recommend for a 1 bedroom with a balcony where you can "see" the beach and ocean?

Seawatch, Ocean Boulevard , Westwinds, and Towers on the Grove are all ocean front resorts but not all units are ocean front. At Ocean Boulevard and Towers on the Grove you can reserve ocean front units and that’s what you’ll get. At Westwinds most if not all units are ocean front. Seawatch is very popular and difficult to reserve in the summer without ARP but you should be able to make a September reservation. The weather and water temps are great in September and the summer crowds are gone.

I would say the weather history is the best you can do for the air. 82 +/- 10 degrees would probably be a fiarly safe prediction. There must be somewhere that you can find a water temperature history.

Despite the possibility of a hurricane which could occur from late spring to late fall, Myrtle Beach is a great place to vacation. In the many times we have gone there we have not yet experienced bad weather and hopefully our good luck will continue this September. We have stayed at all the ocean front Wyndhams except Westwinds and I can honestly say that we like each one although for different reasons. Seawatch and Ocean Boulevard are the two largest resorts with lots of organized activities and recreation facilities to keep the kids occupied. Seawatch has the nicest pools and is in a slightly less urban setting. The pools at Ocean Boulevard are nice but the pool areas between the ocean front towers are shaded part of the day and often very breezy. The pool at Tower 4 (across the street) is the nicer pool but it doesn’t have the nice ocean view like the other two across the street. Ocean Boulevard offers the most restaurants within walking distance and Towers on the Grove has a supermarket just a block away with everything you’ll need for your stay including a deli with all sorts of prepared food for eat-in or take-out. When we want a more relaxed stay without the kids we stay at Towers on the Grove. As far as points required for reservations, Ocean Boulevard is the most expensive especially if you want an ocean front unit. Seawatch is the least expensive. Towers on the Grove has some odd room layouts (it was originally built as a condo not a timeshare) but they are still very nice, especially the ocean front units. The beach at all the resorts is basically the same and the water temperature can be warm from May well into the fall. We have been there in May and experienced almost bath water temperatures followed by days of significantly cooler water so average temperatures don’t mean much. Water temperature in September typically is warm.

September is also hurricane time.
...but pretty late in the season for an Atlantic hurricane.

In the latter part of the hurricane season, storms tend to form in the Gulf of Mexico and tend to hit the Gulf Coast. Atlantic hurricanes, which might threaten SC, are rare during this time.

Also, if you look at the tracks on the hurricane center site, you'll see that geography makes the Outer Banks of NC much more vulnerable to hurricanes than coastal SC.

So would you say that Westwinds has the best chance to get a sure beach/ocean front unit unless you pay the extra points?
It looks small and more intimate?

All 1 bedrooms are oceanfront. I love the resort its a great place to relax. Its the best "value" and you are guaranteed oceanfront. With the other resorts you will spend more points...

I read a Trip Advisor that said there are some 1 bedroom units don't have a full balcony, no cover and right by the pool area and not private?
