Haven't been back in a couple of years.
Do they run shuttles down to the beach and to Laguna Beach?
Did you have luck with a room request a few weeks ahead?
Is there Kid's club or activities?

Thanks.

1. AFAIK, the shuttles still run to Fashion Island and Laguna. Our renters used them a few weeks ago. I never used the shuttle to get to the state park as it was a short walk, but imagine it's not a problem. The driver will take you anywhere within reason for a few bucks ;)

2. We've always gotten favorable responses to villa requests, either faxed in or given to the associate who calls us when blocking rooms. I gave the resort our renters phone number this time and didn't get any complaints.

3. There wasn't a kids club the last time we were there, AFAIK, but that was over a year ago. I'm betting that when sales is out of there, that building will become a gym/club/social area type use...

There have been some TUG'ers there in the last month or two, so you should get some additional comments...

Newport Coast has what they call "Marriott’s Activity Zone Experience (MAZE)" with various free and fee based activities geared for children, teens, and families. "King Triton's Cove", which is setup for children, is located in building 2200. In building 3600 "The Shack" (a teen lounge), and the "Galaxy arcade", can be found.

Family activities include an afternoon magic show, family bingo by the pool, a marshmallow roast by the firepit to name a few.

Upon arrival, a calender of the activities is handed out. Some of the activities require signup prior to the event and can fill up quickly such as the "Kids Night Out" and the "Teens Night Out".

We are at NCV now. As mentioned there are activites for kids (MAZE)and adults. Shuttles run to the beach about every hour and a half. Includes a couple of Laguna Beach runs. Fashion Island shuttles also leave from the registration building. If you are not an owner of NCV or of Marriott it may be difficult to request a view room. I would request a villa close to the pools if you have children and want to be close to the activities.

I am hopefully scheduled to go there July 2008 for the first time (waiting for my official Marriott number and reservation transfer) Does anyone know how the views are from buildings 2100 or 2200? Also, if you are in 2200, it is a quick walk to the main pool behind 3600?

In building 2200, at least the 3rd and 4th floor villas have an ocean view and is very close to the pool. I believe the 3rd floor of building 2100 will have a ocean view, but the first floor view of the building is obstructed by golf course trees and other villas.

The 2nd floor on 2200 has an ocean view. I have been enjoying it for almost 2 weeks.

We do not own here, but do own several weeks of Marriott timeshares. We have enjoyed the resort and would highly recommend it.

We were in 3811 - great view of the ocean.
They were very accomodating when we arrived (we went as owners - direct
exchange). We called ahead and they had our request.

We didn't use the shuttle since we rented a car. There were some terrific
restaurants - I'm working on my review - let me know if you're interested.

I would like your recommendations as we can go there any time during the year. :) I hope you had a wonderful time because the weather was in your favor. :D A week is really too short to visit this area when you come from so far away, but that's life when you are still working. JMHO.
