We're heading there next week for a preview. Kids will want to visit their beach, what's it like? Chairs, restrooms? I read a negative review--long time to get there, not clear water. Is it on Estero Island?

Thanks,
David

They must be nuts

David, Hyatt Coconut Plantation is a beautiful resort and you kids will love it. The beach is reached by boat and it is a private island, the resort cannot control the water. It is generally clear and it is shallow. But, if they wind is coming in from a specific direction it will swirl up the sand because it is shallow. But it is a beautiful island and you should enjoy it. Some people complain about the boat ride, but you will more then likely see dolphins. Most folks have to pay for a boat ride to see dolphins!

Also the lazy river and the big slide at the sister property Hyatt Coconut Pointe will be a big hit with the kids. The Hyatt Coconut Pointe and Coconut Plantation both have schedules with actives for the kids. The grounds and the rooms are beautiful, the rooms are easily one of nicest timeshare rooms you will stay in. I always cook breakfast and we eat it in the screened balcony, we will many times see Ospery or other wildlife. It is not a waterfront view, but I do not think that will cause distress in your vacation. At least, I hope it does not...

In the lobby at Coconut Plantation they have checkers, chess boards, outside any sport you want is available at no cost. You want a basketball - they have it, you want to play ping pong - they have it. I do not know how old your kids are - but they will love the place. It is a safe place for them to act like kids - enjoy yourself and be sure to use the free shuttle and go to the hotel. It is listed as one of America's top 100 hotels - it is very friendly and casual. You can walk thru the marble check in lobby with a bathing suit cover - up. It is not stuffy, only fun!

Bonita Beach is a beautiful area. There is a wonderful new urban type Mall -Coconut Mall with wonderful shops and places to dine just a few minutes from there.
We previewed the property by dropping in last May. Top shelf.

Our favorite places

I won't bicker with the private island description of the Hyatt Beach Club. It is private enough, but not a private island. They have land, and signs telling you that, but the beach belongs to everyone and the beach club is only a very small portion of that island.

That is a very popular area, New Pass I believe, with Dog Beach on the other side of the pass. We have run a pontoon boat up onto the beach at New Pass many times, near the beach club's dock, and walked the beach from the pass-side around to the gulf side. Lot's of people do, not just Hyatt and the gated communities that share that beach club.

Beach Clubs are common along that stretch, and are owned by gated communities, like Pelican Bay, that are not beachfront communities. Most of them have mini busses that bring folks to the beach club.

That way they can be gated beach and golf communities.
