Fewer short-term reservations

Hey Gang,

I've been a member of HCC since July and have loved the experience so far. Have taken three great vacations with others to follow soon. The reservation process has been great and easy to use.

However, I have noticed in the past month or so that it seems more difficult to get prime locations using a "short term" reservation (the under 60 days--3 or 4 day reservations). Had my eye on several last minute long-weekend ski destinations but they seem to have been snatched up before they became available. I know that many people in the club feel there are too many ski destinations but they seem to be booked solidly throughout the winter this year.

Has it been possible to get short term ski reservations in the past? I was wondering if many of the weeks that I was following were taken by an influx of "new" HCC members signing on now before the price increase goes into effect. Any thoughts?

If I join HCC you can be sure I won't be after ski locations and probably only places I can drive to from Toronto. Let's see ... I guess that limits me to about 5 places. :( HCC has overlooked the east coast area and although their 'future' destinations look interesting I suspect it's just the blind leading the blind on whether or not they'll come into being.

Historically there has been great availability. If you're flexible watch for last minute reservations. Also, note that the summit county properties fill up first on holidays and long weekends with the exception of Beaver Creek Village Hall.

If I remember right, late Jan/early Feb is prime pickings...

Anyone have a current count on the HCC membership to date? Seems to me last time I checked (early august) it was about 270. Does that mean "full members"?
